One thing I forgot to mention in the original post is that after I cleaned the old grease out, I sprayed the shaft at both ends with WD-40. It helps drive the water out. (I notice this problem more after I've done water crossings.) So, I sprayed it with WD-40, let it sit for half an hour or so...

Sorry for the late reply on this... If one or both of the rear axle indicator lights are out, it's most likely a burned out bulb. The bulbs burn just burn out because they're on all the time. I think you'll need a #74 bulb. It's pretty easy to take out the instrument cluster and replace them.

Thanks for the heads up, Todd. Is it accurate as a '73–'77? I had a little trouble identifying the traits for each year. '69 was my best guess. Is that a Bronco with Roadster doors in your avatar pic? It looks pretty cool. Nik
