Rare Toy Hauler Adventure Rig (Build)

The thing that makes it all work with Ford Sync is this - however there are several other brands that do similar things. I use a Navik like this one and I ordered it through their website where you can plug in your specific year/make/model to get the right one. The video receiver is mounted...

Rare Toy Hauler Adventure Rig (Build)

Simple mod that gives me a rear view when the camper is on the truck. I mounted a cheap reverse camera below the camper porch light, then wired power to the camera from the porch light. I swapped the original porch light with one that has a switch on the housing so I can keep the camera power...

Im also using a 6 foot wide bag awning made for a pop-up trailer. It was 8 feet long but that was way too big so I cut it to 5.5 feet long.

Rare Toy Hauler Adventure Rig (Build)

After using this rig a few times I decided it needed a porch. There is only a small amount of tailgate that isn't big enough for a step and it makes crossing the door threshold from the folding stairs kind of precarious, especially in the dark. This is how awkward the stairs and threshold...

Diesel Air Heater in 1st Gen Tacoma for OVRLND Top

It was this one. https://www.ebay.com/itm/294094750555 I have a black one in there now. The black ones are more expensive. I also had to modify the standpipe to fit in the cap. Not a difficult to do.

Diesel Air Heater in 1st Gen Tacoma for OVRLND Top

Yes, well the plans changed and I never got the OVRLND. I still have the Tacoma but I'm building out a different rig now.... I like these chyna diesel heaters. I have three of them now - One in the Tacoma, one in the adventure rig, and one in my workshop.

Diesel Air Heater in 1st Gen Tacoma for OVRLND Top

So far it starts every time. I just put a cig lighter end on the factory power wires that came with the heater (14 gage probably?). But you are correct, some of these heaters suck a lot of current at startup. I just installed another similar heater on this rig, and had to upgrade it to...

Rare Toy Hauler Adventure Rig (Build)

I finally made a cover panel to enclose the utility space that houses the jack controller and spare heater fuel. I even used a piece of the factory green carpet I removed from the heater install. It was simple to mount the Reico-Titan wall switch right there on the enclosure.

Rare Toy Hauler Adventure Rig (Build)

I wanted a super lightweight table for the dinette. I considered fabbing one from honeycomb laminates but that stuff is expensive and hard to find a small sheet of it. I ended up using a table top from IKEA. It has a honeycomb cardboard center with thin laminate sides and is extremely...
