Well the journey for Soldier in our family has ended. After ten years, 120k miles and countless adventures he has moved on to a new home. I actually had a sick feeling in my stomach for a day after dropping him off to his new owner. My girls have no memories without that truck being part of our...
Had the trans rebuilt and a new clutch put in just in time for the new owner. Dropped it off to Blake today in Ellensberg. Sad to see it go after 10 years of great memories!
The truck is getting a new south bend clutch/flywheel and the trans rebuilt this week. Once complete the price will increase to $12,000 to reflect the new parts and trans fix. She will practically be a brand new truck after that!
I am planning on doing a similar upgrade on my Excursion. I will probably make them out of aluminum since I have more tools and skills working with metal than wood. Making some sort of storage compartment inside the doors is also a great idea, there is a lot of wasted space in there.
You won’t need that brace for normal use. When I did this swap on a customers rig I added fish plate gussets over the frame splice that is in that area and added some simple weld gussets around that area. You can see the fish plate just above the logo on the radius arm
It totally depends on your wants needs. If you only read this thread you would think the 7.3 PSD is the most unreliable pile ever produced! Everyone has their experiences and opinions, I have owned my 96 F250 for 7 years and put 120k miles on it. I have had to replace items and things have...
I just changed the oil, oil filter, fuel filters, cleaned air filter, checked turbo and intake, inspected tie rod ends and ball joints. I ordered all new tie rod and drag link ends to completely refresh the steering and put together a list of all the non factory parts and part numbers to make...
I wish I could. We picked up a 2000 7.3 excursion about two years ago to transform into our expo rig and this became my work truck. Now that I need a more worky work truck i need to re-home the battleship. Plus, in some states you can go to prison for owning three giant diesel trucks and I'm...
I think there is a big market for electronic e-brakes for our big trucks. My Excursion has rear discs and the stupid inner drum parking brake. They are terrible even with new stuff and the cables make sliders a challenge on the frame. If someone was so inclined you could make a simple three...
I just measured mine. I would say usable area for that is about 50" wide by 108" long. There are a couple of grooves where the factory rack sits and you probably don't want to cut much outside of that. If you did there is closer to 52 or 53" of width.
Sad day but I have this old gal up for sale in the classifieds. I need a F450 with a flatbed for my shop more than I need a second adventure rig so it time for it to move on to another loving home. Message me with questions.
Where in Colorado? I have family in Colorado Springs and it wouldn't be hard to arrange delivery. The old gal has made several trips back there over the years!
