Of course it gets tricky as it often depends on where you live as to what the place names are: South of Hadrians Wall, Edinburgh is Edin-bruh. Worcestershire is in fact Wooster-shire (Worcester is just Wooster). Oh, and in the UK there is another 'i', so it is Aluminium (and not 'aluminum')
Great pictures Gene - good to see Whitby looking so nice. Just for info, fish and chips are always better when eaten sat out on the sea front (especially in January!):chowtime: . The ruinous state of many of the monasteries and abbeys wasn't helped by the dissoloution of the monasteries by Henry...
Hope you get used to the hustlers. I get the impression that they are there wherever tourists are which is where the interesting bits usually are I suppose. Great writing and photographs-I don't need to go to these places now ;-)
Try Morocco for a couple of months. Weather should be better than in Europe, plus you could get some skiing/boarding in the Atlas if that is your bag...but don't forget Europe is a fantastic place in the Summer, even here up north. Doesn't get dark until 9.30-10 here at 54N!
