Why I switched from a Tacoma to an F150

🤣 Prisoner of the moment. A 1999 Ford was at one time, a relatively new tech, new gen truck. Folks scoffed at those as well. That goes for every gen in every make. There are always those “they don’t make’em like they used to” crowds. Old trucks are cool. New ones are better in just about every...

Ram 2500 6.4 Hemi Fuel Range / Tank Size Question

I’d imagine you’d want to keep at least 2-3 gallons in there to make sure to keep the pump submerged and cool. So I’d say 20-30 mile range after you hit E.

    F150 - 2.7L vs 3.5L vs 5.0L

I’ve had issues with just about every make I’ve owned. Jeep, Ford, Honda, Toyota. I have to understand that there will be issues with any complex mass produced product. But we are emotional beings being subject to the prisoner-of-the-moment situations. It does make it hard to go back to a...

    Power Wagon vs F250 Tremor

RE: disconnecting sway bar. Wonder if Ram’s can be retrofitted like the Wrangler Rubicons. I like that manual option as well.

    Slee Off-road/OME lift.

If you don’t need a lift, just get some Bilstein shocks.

    MXT115

I’ve not had a 115, but the 275 is excellent. I’d recommend that if you can swing it.

    Bronco Mothership

That’s incorrect. It definitely uses the starter.

    Why not a Hummer?

I saw one last week on a trail I didn’t know they could fit through. Pretty cool seeing them out in the middle of nowhere. Also saw one of these too.

    F150 - 2.7L vs 3.5L vs 5.0L

6.2 is definitely proven. But what makes you say the 7.3 is complicated (relative to the 6.2)?

Looking for opinions on AEV Prospector XL

After the first road trip, you’d regret going back to a Taco.

Ford Tremor - Colorado overland/off-road, or Rivian?

That’s pretty impressive! I’m assuming mostly highway. 70-75mph?

Ford Tremor - Colorado overland/off-road, or Rivian?

How much does your cab configuration play into this, would you say? Curious, since you have a regular cab. If compared to a crew cab with same mods, would there be any difference in fuel efficiency?

Ford Tremor - Colorado overland/off-road, or Rivian?

What makes you say open diff would not have enough capability for you? I ran open/open in a LOT of Colorado trails. Sequoia has atrac as well.

Ford Tremor - Colorado overland/off-road, or Rivian?

In my experience, a sprinter in The Colorado trails…. Wouldn’t work so well.

Ford Tremor - Colorado overland/off-road, or Rivian?

You won’t be getting 20mpg at 90mph with a diesel. Especially if you’ve got upsized tires and a lift. A friend with a newer F350 and 35’s with 3” lift gets 15-16 tops, at 75mph. For me, keeping a vehicle for 15 years means keeping it as stock as possible. I’d not want to deal with failures due...

Regular cab short bed 1/2 tons

It’ll work for me. There’s enough storage behind the seat for essentials. Overall size is great for 99.9% of the trails I ride. But I don’t plan on becoming a bachelor anytime soon so not even on the radar. Just daydreams. 🤣

Regular cab short bed 1/2 tons

I keep building this “if I’m ever a bachelor again” rig (on ford.com). 5.0, 3.73 locked, tow package. 3” lift, 35’s. Shell with a sleeping platform.

Need to replace my 06 Taco: is the 2022 TRD Off-road worth the extra cost?

If CC makes the front locker unnecessary for you, in my opinion, you never needed a front locker to begin with. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Propane for Cooking: Exterior Vehicle Storage (4Runner)

Any concerns with dirt, mud, salt, etc build up? High speed gravel roads means I’d probably want some sort of skid plate. Which would then make it a pain to refill. I’d probably just mount a small tank on the spare tire carrier.

Need to replace my 06 Taco: is the 2022 TRD Off-road worth the extra cost?

In my region, SR in AC gets 2.7L 2wd/4wd and 3.5 2wd/4wd. The DC gets 2.7 2wd and 3.5 4wd.
