Do we really need a spare?

You know some idiot is going to run a solid tire or run flat until it destructs. I see the tiny donuts run all the time on the freeway. I've had two blowouts. The first was the traditional "boom" and scary as heck. It was on an overloaded truck. I sold it shortly afterwards.

I'm killing batteries -- time to go LiFePo4?

You need a real deep cycle battery. A good agm could do it for you but this is the time to bite the bullet and go lithium.

Do we really need a spare?

All depends on rip. One of mine it might have been attempted on. The one on the Dusy, no way.

Do we really need a spare?

I've ripped out the sidewall in the White Mtns. On the Dusy a member of our group ripped out a sidewall. Without a spare we'd have been sol.

Do we really need a spare?

I think I've used a spare offroad five times. Plug kits aren't always going to get the job done.

    Can we talk coffee brewing?

I love hopping out of the camper in the morning fully dressed with a good cup of coffee while the tenters are still trying to decide if its safe to come out :)

A couple qs for the expo-experts: bed length, truck choice, etc

I'd be more concerned about the center of gravity than length.

    Legal vs illegal radios

I think people like Rugged Radios expect most users will using simplex out in the middle of nowhere and unlikely to cause interference even if the frequency is in use. Of course there always exceptions and thats what gets people in trouble.

Why does solar controller show voltage from panel after moving camper out of the sun?

More than you think. My patio cover (white) reflects enough light during the day to get over an amp out my controller.

    Grilling fail

All kinds of disasters over the years. The one that pops into mind is when the stray dog decided the roast was cooked well enough for him :)

Minimum EV Range Requirement for Touring Western U.S.

I'm not so sure charging stations wont' be similar to gas stations. People will still want to use the restroom. Purchase a drink and a snack. Clean the windshield etc. I can see it being a huge boon for Casino's. Maybe even a return of the roadside attraction. Gotta do something while waiting...

    AED for expedition use?

I don't carry it when I'm solo but I have a Phillips Heartstart I carry for group trips. My certs are expired. I need to fix that. I also carry a basic trauma kit. I watched a guy roll five times. All the other guys had these tiny first aid kits. Good thing he only got a bump on the head. I wish...

Technician license is fine if mobile communications is all you're after.
