Well aware of the trend and yatch on wheels part, just baffled by the Tacoma aspect.

Another vote for "it's beautiful but I don't get it". I guess if you're not part of the Cult of Tacoma you might never get it?

Charging - Auxiliary Alternator vs. DC-DC/B2B. Which is Better?

Have a look at what these guys are doing to control alternator and handle bi-directional DC-DC. https://www.safiery.com/ Wakespeed seem to have the same unit called the WS3000R listed on their 2021 pricelist pdf. http://wakespeed.com/index.html The Safiery site has good info outlining a...

    DIY Composite Flatbed Camper Build

Another process used by a couple of small builders in France is Dibond-XPS-Dibond and make the panels themselves inhouse. http://cartech4x4.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/img_0353-scaled.jpg http://cartech4x4.com/ His facebook has lots of info buried in the image comments...

Minimalism for the win. Buy 10 of the same basic grey t-shirts in bulk and 3 pair of the same jeans. Consider it a uniform that's really never the wrong thing for anything. Never have to think about what to wear ever again. It's nice. /fashion talk

Overlander Camper Frame Material: Aluminium vs Mild Steel vs Stainless Steel?

I like the look of those latches. Maybe look at using Dibond/Alcubond/ACP instead of the wood? Would you paint or anodize the the 80/20? Black 80/20 with a deep grey panels would looks good.

    Heater/Furnace Sizing

Thanks for the information. As the camper structure's have become better insulated and sealed it only makes sense that they require less heat and better circulation. Just wanting to confirm real world use vs theory. It would be good so see some more modern hvac techniques applied to lower...

    Heater/Furnace Sizing

I guess the question is, how much more than enough? Do you think you have 2x more heating capacity than needed? Is your fresh air exchange open roof vents/windows?

    Heater/Furnace Sizing

Bumping an older thread while researching BTU / W heat requirements. Java do you think the heat loss calculator is accurate? The Webasto 3500 is still roughly twice the BTU's output compared to the calculated requirements. IdaSHO's comment on being able to cook themselves out with 6k btu...

    48v - 12v hybrid systems - alternator charging

A heat pump is MUC MUCH more efficient than an electrical element heater. Also modern AC and heat pump units that are designed to run natively off DC are again much more efficient. Your 750w is about the right amount of heat...just the wrong way to product it. 750w = approx 2500 btu...

    48v - 12v hybrid systems - alternator charging

Yes the charging is the main advantage sought with the hybrid system. Our biggest power draw would be a 48V DC heat pump, and induction cooktop. Smaller draw would be a HRV (heat recovery vent) for the fresh air circulation rather than just the usual pair of roof vent fans. The goal is full...

They really should release the technical details on GVWR. But hey they're featured on Hypebeast so we know they have marketing on lock.

Thoughts on the Truckhouse Tacoma expedition camper...

This thing is vaporware and I'll bet it never comes to market. Far too many things working against it. Maybe if it was on a single cab 70 series from an established builder. All they have shown is renderings.

    Bidirectional USB-C PD Charging

I think you would want something the the capability outlined here. https://www.analog.com/en/analog-dialogue/articles/finally-a-12v-12v-dual-battery-automotive-bidirectional-dc-dc-controller-for-redundancy.html Input range of 2.85V to 80V and output range of 1.3V to 80V. I doubt you'll find...
