The Space Tractor: Project '89 Delica

I wouldn't trust something like that. There is nothing better than direct pyrometer probe feeding to a gauge in front of your face. You adjust your right foot depending on the reading for temps.

The Space Tractor: Project '89 Delica

Not bad considering you're pushing a brick. I usually get the cooling system running perfect and then up the boost/monitoring via pyro gauge and do EGR delete. Then it's happy.

you can always go 31's too. I've been making lift since 08. Works pretty good after the EGR delete.

1992 Toyota Hiace Diesel 4x4 Double Cab Doka

It's incredibly slow. I had one about 9 years ago. Since it struggled to get to 55-60 max, I would put it slower than my old westy. Looks like it's in great shape though.

Selling our amazing delica camper as we have just moved to an apartment that won't allow this height vehicle to be parked on our street (residential Vancouver is set at 2.2m height which won't work) so unfortunately we need to downsize our camper for now to a lower height van. I imported it...

Pics of your VAN! Post up!

Have been enjoying our Mitsubishi Delica camper this winter. Installed a 6P12 Platcat heater and it's kept us cozy on chilly nights/days. It's a 92 diesel 4x4 we imported from Japan.

The Space Tractor: Project '89 Delica

I don't remember the weight but it didn't sag when we installed it. Also my leaf packs were in great shape. Wasn't cost effective to make and sell them unfortunately. Just like most things custom it took up too much of my off-work time and family/adventures took priority.

JDM Mitsubishi Delica JB500 camper body on L300 truck chassis build

Cute is the word most people use when seeing it for the first time. It's like a mini 4x4 old VW with a new FG body on it. This is what it looks like compared to a new BMW SUV.

JDM Mitsubishi Delica JB500 camper body on L300 truck chassis build

The LED dot headlights are great. It's amazing how much interior space it has inside compared to how small it looks from outside. The layout and storage space is really efficient for a camper. I installed a plat-cat vented heater and that's been awesome in the cold mountains so far. Best...

JDM Mitsubishi Delica JB500 camper body on L300 truck chassis build

This is what it looks like with a human standing beside it. We've been using it (sleeping/cooking/traveling around BC) ski touring this season and it's my favorite 4x4 camper to date.

For the timing, you'll need the IP timing tool with a gauge to set it properly. Do you have access to one ?

JDM Mitsubishi Delica JB500 camper body on L300 truck chassis build

There's a lot you can do to enable the torque/turbo to work together. Timing is advanced by default. Retard the timing and with the combination below you'll see massive gains in mpg, torque and power without hurting the engine. - delete the EGR. It's horrible. Blanking plate is the best. -...

The Space Tractor: Project '89 Delica

what would you like to know ? Took some 3/8 cold rolled steel and had a press shop bend the two 90 degree angles. From there we cut and shaped the sides to match the delica body panel. cut and inserted vertical bracing for the tow hooks and small plates to reinforce the swing arms. I'm not...

JDM Mitsubishi Delica JB500 camper body on L300 truck chassis build

The mirrors extend past the forward cab and give you 100% unobstructed views from the front bumper to the rear corner on both sides. There is also a rearview camera that gives you a wide angle top to bottom view behind. There is more visibility around the truck then almost any new car. I've...

The Space Tractor: Project '89 Delica

If you'd like to know about mods and stuff, I've gone through every flavor of Delica and suspension/fab mods in the past 15 years. delica.ca is a great resource. I'm jfarsang (jessef) there too. Happy to share with what I've gotten to know about these vans.
