Thinking of swapping my RTT for a swag.

It's also a chore getting in and out of the RTT. I loved mine when I had it. I moved the RTT off my LC onto a utility trailer as a test to see if trailering was for me. It worked so well that the advantages made the small disadvantages disappear. I then justified (to myself) the expense of a...

270 Awning... Driver side or Passenger side?

Did you get your Shadow mounted yet and to what rig? The Shadow is a stout 270* and needs a very stout mount to work well and be reliable. I've had mine for 3 yrs now and it's mounted (for the 4th time) now, to my squaredrop trailer. Previously, had it mounted to my Land Cruiser (2 different...

Post Pics of Your Hard Side Camper!

I bought the truck used and it looks to have the stock 1997 F350 supension. I added Firestone "Ride-Rite" air bags for the rear leafs, purchased at a Les Schwab tire center in Bend, OR. You're right, though. The 11' Lance is a heavy camper, but the F350 is a capable truck.

Best way to secure a Max Coupler hitch when leaving the trailer in camp for the day

My method is a little different and may take a little explaining. My setup is such that I can use the traditional ball & cup or the Max Coupler and it takes, maybe 15 min. to switch from one to the other. Of course I have separate receivers for my tow rig. My reasoning is that for highway and...

    Thule Tepui Foothill RTT

Well then, you'll have to make a decision. If you wait for a review or an owner's experience, you might miss your chance to pick one up, without a long wait. If you have any RTT experience, it'll make sense when I say that it sounds to me like this tent has all the disadvantages of the larger...

2018 Three Feathers Mfg. 'Trail Head'

The new Progressive Dynamics Power Control Center is installed. It has twice the number of fused D.C. circuits available and 2 more A.C. breaker slots available. The converter is more heavy duty. It's really designed for a larger trailer, but like my Land Cruiser, I like the "overbuilt" idea...

2018 Three Feathers Mfg. 'Trail Head'

Pulled the water tank and found a loose fitting that could only be found by pulling the tank. It was the 1st nylon 90* fitting off the exit line brass fitting. It was loose enough to make me wonder if it was not checked during assembly. Also replaced short hose that's cable clamped with thicker...

2018 Three Feathers Mfg. 'Trail Head'

Went on a trip with ROF's to KOFA in AZ between Yuma and Quartzite which was a good opportunity to check out the mods made to the galley. All mods made were an improvement and made for a more organized and efficient kitchen. However, on the way back to OR the 12 gallon water tank developed a...

Post Pics of Your Hard Side Camper!

My '97 F350 4x4 Powerstroke with '06 Lance 1055. I bought these both used, separately back in 2014. With an extended receiver hitch, I have towed my 80 Series Land Cruiser to TLCA and ROF events for a base camp or for just comfortable camping on away from home day wheeling trips. I've made a...

    Thule Tepui Foothill RTT

Thanks for posting - I had no idea. Concept looked new to me. I guess when the article says it's "new", it's purely subjective, depends where you live. But, to be fair, it's not the 1st time I've seen Tepui claim something to be new and their idea, when it wasn't entirely true.

    Thule Tepui Foothill RTT

Yeah, definitely need to see one up close before making further opinions. One negative thing already is it being a folding mattress and soft side/cover as opposed to hardshell. But, for the narrow footprint, a folding mattress is necessary. So bedding storage will be more limited. And I would...

    Thule Tepui Foothill RTT

Interesting idea for those with previous roofrack reservations and interested in a RTT also. https://expeditionportal.com/new-thule-tepui-foothill-rtt-has-tiny-footprint/ Could carry a bike or kayak along with tent for getting to camping spots that towing a trailer would be prohibitive.

Colorado Built Boreas AT, XT, MXT Teardrop!

If you think about it, insulation alone, is not enough with continous exposure to keep lines & tank from freezing in true cold weather(10 F or less). You also need a heat source which pretty much requires them to be enclosed - exposed to heated air inside an insulated compartment.

Anything compete with the Superlite for weight and cost..?

Me either. As a RTT owner for 8 yrs and using it in all types of weather and sometimes for weeks at a time from Baja to the PNW, and on trails from Teapot Canyon in the Maze District in Utah to Forest Service roads, plus miles of freeways to get quickly from one end of the country to another...

Do people really take their off-road teardrops through gnarly trails?

I originally started overlanding with just a RTT on my rig. There's pluses & minuses to either way, however with a family, a trailer is almost a necessity. My 1st trailer was built to do trails like the Rubicon, with an adequately built tow rig & skilled driver. But, it was a utility style and...

2018 Three Feathers Mfg. 'Trail Head'

Got my brother-in-law, Dave, to install a pass-thru window in the wall between galley and sleeping area. It's not for me to "pass-thru", but for convenience. Other similar trailers to mine have this built in from the shop, but it wasn't a TFM option back in 2018. So what do you do? Improvise...

    AluCab bedding/sheets options

Your Alu Cabs are looking great! How are you liking them? Interested to see how you attached the Shadow. Does it attach directly to the RTT?

    AluCab bedding/sheets options

I guess I'm the opposite, when camping I prefer a sleeping bag, for the surrounding insulation (can't kick the blankets off in my sleep and wake up shivering🥶). So I noticed Tepui sold double sleeping bags sized for their RTT's. Well, you don't have to have a Tepui RTT to purchase one and...
