2014 SoCal Teardrops Krawler 459 for Sale $21.5k

Manufacturer says at least 400 pounds. They have a roof top tent on one of their trailers where 300 pounds worth of teenagers sleep without issue.

2014 SoCal Teardrops Krawler 459 for Sale $21.5k

Good question. The only thing the manufacturer says on their site is: "The SCT Roof Basket is designed to be a rugged aerodynamic gear basket, it's lightweight & extremely strong." It certainly looks very stoutly built. I think the limiting factor would be the mounting brackets. Let me...

2014 SoCal Teardrops Krawler 459 for Sale $21.5k

The manufacturer lists its "dry weight" at 1250 pounds for the base trailer. I'd guess the extras are probably another 250 pounds or so, which would mean about 1500 pounds dry. Then if you filled the water tanks, 30 gallons of water weighs approximately 250 pounds, so you'd then be at...

2014 SoCal Teardrops Krawler 459 for Sale $21.5k

I am selling my SoCal Teardrops (made in Upland, CA) Krawler 459. It is in excellent condition. Pretty much fully loaded except for heater and/or AC. I have attached the original invoice, which lists all of the options (and original $26k+ price). Extras included: - National Luna Weekender...

Truck Trend 2015 Pickup of the Year

I'd probably never buy a Powerwagon, because it isn't the type of vehicle I prefer, but it is one impressive truck. I ran the Cleghorn Trail in the Cajon Pass area of Southern California a couple of years ago. My friend (in a 4Runner Trail Edition) and I (in my Xterra Pro-4x) were pretty...

Anybody heard from Colorado Camper Vans?

    Suitcase for airline travel?

Whatever you buy, make sure you get one that fits within the policy of the airline(s) you typically fly. See http://www.travelnerd.com/airline-fees/carry-on-luggage-sizes. For US carriers, the lowest common denominator seems to be 22 x 14 x 9.

Anybody heard from Colorado Camper Vans?

If a company won't return your call/email when you're looking to buy something, imagine how much trouble you will have getting their attention post sale when you need help with something. I have no experience with them at all, but based on their behaviors described above, I'd avoid them like...

    Suitcase for airline travel?

I have, and regularly use, a Travelpro Crew 9 22" carry-on. Held up well so far, and properly sized to fit in overhead bins. Even has a garment bag feature. So far no complaints. I got it off Amazon for $185. So far, I'm quite happy with it.

    Charging the house batteries

And now that I've had my coffee, DiploStrat's comment about a relay makes sense, since that is what the tow wiring uses to cut power to the trailer when the vehicle ignition is off.

    Charging the house batteries

Mark, my apologies. I misunderstood you initially. I assumed you were towing a trailer when I heard "camper". I would imagine there is probably a way to hook the house batteries up to your tow wiring (which will only be active when the ignition us on, assuming the Fuso has such wiring)...

    Nissan Xterra Discontinued in U.S.

What is selling right now are minivans and station wagons that don't look like either one, aka "crossovers". The market for real off road capability can apparently only support one contestant at this point.

    Charging the house batteries

DiploStrat, what is the purpose of the relay?

    Charging the house batteries

I charge off the alternator running a 7-pin connector. It works great for me, but my trailer only has ~120 AH battery in it, and my tow vehicle even less. You'd probably have to do a lot of driving to fill 930 AH, but then again, it probably never gets close to empty. I have a solar charger...

    Nissan Xterra Discontinued in U.S.

So what is left for someone who wants an off-road capable mid-size SUV in 2016? Seems to me that the JK is it. Maybe the 4runner, but is a little big, and doesn't offer a manual transmission. I'm sure the decision to drop the Xterra was made some time ago, but the timing seems poor on...

    Kitchen Organization

I'd like to find something a little more "built-in", like in this pic: My guess is I may need to find a good cabinet maker to fabricate it for me. Does anyone know a good cabinet maker in the Las Vegas area?

    Kitchen Organization

I'm looking for a utensil organizer that has a lid or tie downs to put in one of the drawers of my teardrop. I'm also looking for a good spice rack that I can mount to one of the interior kitchen walls that will keep the bottles secure when off road. Any suggestions?
