Small freezer and Yeti cooler with ice bricks vs Large fridge/freezer

Thanks everybody, I am now full fridge shopping. :)

Small freezer and Yeti cooler with ice bricks vs Large fridge/freezer

Thanks Dreadlocks, that's a good perspective. And yeah I agree, why buy a small freezer for nearly the price of a regular fridge unit. Yeti should make and sell a 12v quick freeze unit that perfectly fits their ice bricks. They'd sell a ton of them.

Small freezer and Yeti cooler with ice bricks vs Large fridge/freezer

Hey all, I am expanding my setup and will be taking my family on some longer trips. I currently have a Yeti Tundra 45 cooler with an interior volume of roughly 30Q and several of their blue ice bricks which keeps things cool for days. I am tempted to find the smallest freezer unit out there...

Death Valley Time Lapse and Drive Over Hunter Mountain

Doesn't let me hard link to a vimeo page, it only embeds the video. If your browser won't view it, search for 'Death Valley Time Lapse, November 2015' on vimeo, or just look up my name on vimeo and it's the newest video. https://vimeo.com/user946589

Death Valley Time Lapse and Drive Over Hunter Mountain

The Orion shot was done with my Sony a7R on a 200mm lens mounted on my Polarie star tracker. It moves the camera with the sky letting you take clean 30 second exposures of the stars. You leave the camera taking about 20-30 or even more of the identical exposures, bring them into photoshop, and...

Death Valley Time Lapse and Drive Over Hunter Mountain

Nothing special with my truck for cameras. I keep everything in soft bags on the rear passenger seat and the combination of the seat padding and the soft bags eliminate any worry about vibration or shock damage. Thankfully my 100" Dynamic Perception slider barely fits between the rear window...

Death Valley Time Lapse and Drive Over Hunter Mountain

Hidden Valley Road is easy to get to from the north via Racetrack Road. The snow would block you heading up and over Hunter Mountain. It was fine when I went, but who knows what snow will fall between now and then. I'd keep track of the 'Death Valley Road Conditions' facebook page. You can...

Death Valley Time Lapse and Drive Over Hunter Mountain

Just after Thanksgiving weekend I had two days off work so I decided to head up to Death Valley. Got to Lee flat at around 1am Sunday night and started enjoying the 20 degree temps. Set up my cameras for time lapse and two of my key after market battery packs (same brand and model) shut off...

    Goal Zero Yeti 400 Experiences?

The Yeti 400 was updated with a better battery from a new supplier earlier this year. I'm guessing the design will be around to stay for a while.

Overlanding related stuff in the Beijing area?

I'll be visiting Beijing this coming July and was wondering if anybody knew of some overlanding or 4x4 things I should do or check out while in that part of the world. Thanks!

    Nissan Photos - post your's

Thanks guys, unfortunately photography is one of the worst ways to make money these days. I prefer to get the enjoyment out of doing it and not having to take direction from anybody else on my work. :) I'm happy to have a new subject for my camera.

My Year in Picture (Great Idea Kurt!)

Great thread! I hope to do the same with my kids (one in the womb and one a sparkle in my eye) when they are old enough!

Working on driving skills at Hungry Valley SVRA

Thanks everybody. Yeah, the Xterra is a great value compared to the competition out right now. Not too large, yet has more interior space than a Jeep and can still go 95% of the places a jeep can. The Pro-4x is fully featured with rear lockers and a manual transmission option. It is a good...

Cool! Thanks for the info. I'll definitely track them down next time I'm up there.

    Eastern Sierra Nevada

Great report! I've been going to the Eastern Sierra, and specifically Mammoth and Convict Lake at least once a year since I was 5, so it was great to read about and see your experiences. Do you happen to have the coords of the hot springs? I went there when I was a kid with my parents but...

Working on driving skills at Hungry Valley SVRA

About an hour north of Los Angeles is Frazier Mountain containing a large number of great 4×4 trails. My friend Daniel and I took a day-trip up to this area on Sunday only to find that the entire mountain and all of its trails were closed for the winter. I guess we should have called ahead of...

    new car time

Love my X. Manual trans, rear locker, more interior room than a 4-door jeep, rear seats that fold down flat, and tons of other features. Just make sure to get a '12 and newer or you'll think the interior electronics came from a decade earlier.
