    Mobile Internet

I doubt ours is sold anymore--we got it back in 2018. Here are some of the current options in an article dated August 2020: https://www.rvmobileinternet.com/gear/verizon-orbic-mobile-hotspot/. Yes, video calls are fine provided you're in a coverage area. The Coverage? app is good for determining...

Modern truck camper for an adventurous family of five?

Just want to applaud you for looking for ways to get your kids outdoors and into more adventure. Choosing the right vehicle is a big decision, and I suggest you don't rush it. Do you have any local overland groups or overland shops you can check out? I wouldn't say five in a truck camper is...

    Smaller camp stoves?

It really is amazing how many meals only take one burner. I got the Jetboil two-burner Genesis, but I've used both burners maybe twice? (Had it for two and a half years, including 4,000 miles overlanding through Mexico.) And while I'm no chef, I don't consider my meals overly simplistic. ;)

Sleeping Bag Alternative for Long-term International Trip

Thanks, everyone! You've given me several ideas to consider. Maybe I am overthinking it, but we won't have access to U.S. products for a long time once we go south of the border and I have a four-year-old to consider, so I definitely want to get this right!

Sleeping Bag Alternative for Long-term International Trip

I really appreciate your thoughts. We plan on overlanding Central America, South America, Africa, Europe, Asia, and Australia for the next 10-15 years. I'll look into bag liners, though I have to admit something in me is still pushing against the idea of a sleeping bag! Duly noted! I'll do my...

Sleeping Bag Alternative for Long-term International Trip

Hoping to benefit from your experience as I decide on bedding for a multi-year trip around the globe. I don't want to use a sleeping bag because A) it's really hard to wash properly on the road, out of the country, and B) it makes me feel like I'm camping, not at home. (Note: we'll be living in...

Check out our travels....We will be doing much more this year...and more off pavement trips too!

Don't we know it! We were planning to speak at all three Overland Expo events, as well as all three of Ray Hyland's events (Northwest Overland Rally, etc.). Ended up sheltering in place for six months in Seattle at my mother-in-law's. The only goal we met was completing visits/stays in our final...

Canadian Family of 4 Exploring the world in a Sprinter 4x4 during a pendemic: North America, Africa, Europe.. Asia (soon)

March-July, we'll be in the western U.S. building our Jeep Gladiator with Alu-Cab Canopy Camper. By late August, we plan to cross into interior Mexico. Central Mexico at the beginning of 2022, then South America, Africa, Europe, Asia, and Australia. We suspect to finish in 2031-2036, so...

Caspian and I just finished your Cholula video, which was fun because it's somewhere we've actually been. <3 My favorite part was your *Cholula isn't made here note. 😂

    Canada to Baja and beyond

You did that in a month? 😮We spent four-and-a-half weeks doing Tecate to Cabo and back up this past winter, and that felt way too fast.

    WeBoost

We were fairly happy with the weBoost...until we tried a MIMO. A MIMO antenna is $30 on Amazon, versus the weBoost which sets you back hundreds. The key with the MIMO is that it only connects to certain hotspots. When we got ours in 2018, it was the latest Verizon Jetpack that was compatible...

    Mobile Internet

No need to reinvent the wheel. There is a whole community of location-indepedent, working-age RVers who have been working on this problem for many years. First, check out Mobile Internet for RVers and Cruisers (I'm not affiliated, though the owners are my friends). They are *the* go-to source on...

How Annoying is a Backseat Fridge?

Our current plan is to do a 60-delete in the backseat of a Gladiator to install a fridge. So the fridge would sit on the passenger side. It would be awesome to fit it on a slide, so we can easily access storage underneath and fully lift the lid. The door of the Gladiator is cut oddly, so slide...
