Yeah when you look at what other 4x4 vans are going for 18k is super reasonable. In fact, non Ambo 7.3 4x4s were going for more than 18k even before prices shot up in the last 12 months.

This thing is pretty cool. I didn’t see it posted yet so figure I’d share. Not mine. No affiliation.

I'm not having a hard time. It's currently insured as just a truck. However, I know that insurance companies will often look for ways to not cover an incident so rather than have an issue then have them say "well you didn't tell us this was a camper". I'd rather get it insured as what it is, but...
I think you are right. They wouldn’t insure my van in Florida and not my house in Michigan. But I don’t think I ever checked on the truck in MI.

Looks like most of the items you have listed and are higher $$ are removable pretty easily (batteries and electrical.). Once they low ball you and only pay the van cost, just remove anything that they don’t account for.

Wondering those of you that made custom hardside campers on Chassis cabs, how you have them insured. I have a 1996 F350 Chassis cab ambulance. When I bought it, my DMV had no record of it being an ambulance, just an incomplete vehicle. They wouldn't even let me title it as a truck because it...
Been a while since I have updated this but progress is slowly happening. After a lot of time going back and forth, I ultimately decided a full get and start from scratch was the route I wanted to go. But first I wanted to get this thing enjoyable to drive and mechanically sound. It had been...
Yeah my only concern outside the cost with LifePO4 is they seem more fragile (and the expense to replace amplifies this). Like don't you have to worry about them freezing and such? As far as longevity, that makes sense, but I don't know if I will keep this rig longer than a couple/few years...
I'm getting to the point where I am going to be ordering my electrical components for my ambulance build. My last build (a ram promaster) I went almost all renogy with 2x 100W panels, a rover 40amp controller, a 20amp DC to DC charger and 2 cheap 6v golf cart batteries.
I switched to the...
Anyone have any experience with these smittybilt ones? https://www.4wheelparts.com/p/smittybilt-rain-gutter-clamps-for-defender-rack-roof-rack-hd-4/_/R-DSBP-HD-4
I'm looking to build my own roof rack for my ambulance. Probably out of 8020. When I did this on my van build, I used unistrut that bolted to the van specific adapters. For the ambo, it's got gutters so I'd like to just mount to those vs drill holes in the roof for stuff like solar and...
