Thanks @quickfarms! It was a ground issue... and lights are working great now. However only the top two light bulbs work... running light and signal light.
I just realized that the trailer lights do not include reverse lights? It looks like my M416 tail light has a reverse light on the bottom...
Thanks, @Ovrlnd Rd.
Still nothing lights up. The bulbs are 12v. Not sure if the harness if defective. Even with out grounds, lights should shimmer right? I just want to get the current flow through first.
I am not having any luck getting the trailer lights to work.
Could anyone please translate the following military wiring diagram:
to this 5 wire (4 pin) diagram:
I would be very much appreciate it!
I have tried Green to 22-460; Brown to 21-489; Yellow to 22-461; Brown/Yellow...
Fantastic!!! I really like what you did to the trailer! For my part, I have 95% finished with the frame and currently just staring at the tub (ha!). The tub on my trailer is is much worse shape than yours. I hope to get started on it next week.
I really like the tailgate and the lid!!
The weather has been decent, and with the COVID-19 lock down in place I was able to start some work on the trailer. I took the axle and the springs off the frame and worked on cleaning it.
Using an angle grinder and 4-1/2 strip&Clean Discs I was able to clean the frame.
Next is to to work on...
@blu76bronco I am think @A Southern Gentleman would be able to help you with this. I was going to ask the same question. I do like the original tail lights but they are in bad shape. MidwestMilitary.com carries repair kits and harness.
@A Southern Gentleman The trailer is coming together nicely!! Well done! If I may ask, where do you source the nuts and bolts? Is there a place I can order a set of different sizes for the M416 or just purchase one by one from a local hardware store?
On my M416, here's what the previous owner did to keep the rear sides from being flexible. He welded a pretty thick slab of metal from the tub to the rear loop that's attached to the frame. (see the red circles).
Thank you for the offer! I am sure I'll need the guidance as I continue next year. While on hold, I'll probably try to order parts, such as lighting kit, screws and bolts, u bolts, shocks ect...
@Digglesby Yeah, the first picture of the bottom three; so after cut out the back to make the...
After purchasing a JL last November, I developed a bug for a Jeep trailer. After a few months of scouting Craigslist, I was able to get an M416 at a fair price and in a semi-decent shape; it tows well but the prior cut tailgate and the tub really rusted out.
The usual plan; tear it down...
@Digglesby @Flyfishjeep please help! 😃
As I mentioned earlier, phase I, separating the frame from the tub was already kicking my butt.
How many bolts are there to separate the tub from the frame? I only see 5; three on each cross bar on the bottom and one on each side up towards the front...
