    Box Rocket 1995 FZJ80 Build

Have had a couple projects recently. One was rebuilding my spare steering box with the 105 sector shaft upgrade. Overall it went pretty smoothly. I did a fairly detailed step by step that is posted on IH8MUD if anyone is interested. Steering box FZJ80 by Adam Tolman, on Flickr Steering box...

Just a few recent changes that I wanted to add to the thread. Replaced my DEKA group31 battery with a new Duracell deep cycle Group 31 AGM Untitled by Adam Tolman, on Flickr messed around with an extra grill I had for a small cosmetic change. This is the grill that has been on the truck...

    Box Rocket Homemade trailer build.

I wanted a bit of a lip at the frame so I wouldn't have changed it. But you could definitely build it more flush. Tire clearance is about 3" between the tire and tub. Yes, tailgate latches are new with the recent work.

Well it was a 4" jump in tire size so.... The fenders are about 14" wide IIRC. Made them just wide enough to fully cover the tires, whatever that ended up being. They do make a nice flat surface for things though. Nice to stand on, the camp stove fits will on it, I'm sure some other things too.

    Box Rocket 1995 FZJ80 Build

Few updates since my last post. Replaced my factory rear swaybar links (that I've broken several times) with these beefy ones. Much better. Swaybar links by Adam Tolman, on Flickr Rebuilt the power steering pump again, but now it's not leaking. Finally. Fixing Leaks by Adam Tolman, on Flickr...

    Box Rocket Homemade trailer build.

I recently finished the rebuild of some new fenders to fit the 37's and a bit of a refresh on the rest of the trailer. Lots of stuff cut off from the adjustable rack that used to be on it. Tire carrier is removed, for now. Recoated the tub with raptor liner and sprayed the whole thing white...

    Box Rocket Homemade trailer build.

1.8" material for the frame could work but you'd probably want more crossmembers to keep it strong, which would probably equal the weight of a heavier material with less crossmembers. The lid would be better being aluminum but steel is what I had on hand. It's kinda heavy but it works.

    97 FZJ80 build

Thanks. Scoop was found on ebay. Big hole in the hood under it. Just added some hood vents to go with it. The idea is that air coming into the scoop will push hot engine bay air out through the vents and keep engine bay temps down.

    Inexpensive vs. Expensive Winch

You must not have read my first comment in this discussion. When I say, “buy once, cry once” that most definitely does not mean just go out and buy the most expensive piece of gear because it must be the best if it’s the most expensive. It also does not mean that the least expensive option is...

    Inexpensive vs. Expensive Winch

Never said, anyone was just abandoning vehicles because they got stuck and couldn't get out. LOL. You're welcome to do as you wish. Your original post was looking for options and opinions, and I shared mine. I realize not everyone will share my opinion. There will always be those who justify...

    Inexpensive vs. Expensive Winch

Pulling a winch apart and re sealing and greasing is good move with a cheap winch. Can absolutely help since water intrusion is one of the biggest enemies of a winch. Keep water out of the guts and out of the electronics will help it survive longer. However, poor quality steel on gears etc...

    Inexpensive vs. Expensive Winch

Personally, There are only two brands I have complete trust in. ComeUp and Warn (non-VR series Warn). There will be people all day long that will defend their less expensive winch and that it "works great". I might but for how long? From my experience there is always an "expiration date"...

Ronny Dahl's Recovery Mat Torture Test

Just me two cents. Great example of the "buy once, cry once" philosophy. I've had Maxtrax for several years now with a fair amount of use and they still look new. Yeah there are cheaper options but eventually they're gonna fail. I guess I look at it in the sense that I don't want to be on a...

Recommendation- tepui ruggedized Autana 3, ARB Simpson III or Gordigear Explorer Plus

Sure I'll share my opinion. Different features and designs work better for different people and some don't work as well. So take my opinion as just opinion based on my own experience and uses. Your experience may be a little different. Overall I think the FSR tents are good. Better than...
