very much like the one I built with my son..... but foam not wood..... I love the design having done a trip with my son it is soooooo perfect. Not too big, not too small, out of the weather when you need to.... now I have to build one for myself.
Sorry didn't take any pics while building.
It is panelized..... so the whole thing was pre fabbed on a table in the shop.... 2x2 and inner wall skin of birch panelling. Then it was bolted together at the corners, insulated, and a skin of aluminum flashing was installed. We bead rolled the...
my son cooked and ate outside on a little camp table. Like you said..... built in stuff adds weight. Coleman stove and a wash basin makes a kitchen. He is planning a permanent propane tank mount and a long hose for a single burner propane stove inside on the table. He also wants to sew an...
Some years back I did a detailed build thread of an aluminum frame pop up I was building for my family and a planned big trip. Read it here if interested.
Long story short I ran out of time due to feature creep and wanted to do the trip before the kids grew up.... so I abandoned the camper and...
I too drive mostly on pavement and drive fire roads and back roads.... Have worn out a pair of ST Maxx... I did not like the extra noise.... so next set will be Toyo AT2..... don't have any info on them.... just did not like the extra noise of the Maxx
Any updates on the possibility of a 6 foot box length with a cab-over big enough for a bed
Any chance this will happen this spring?
I am ready to purchase!
You have been very quiet for awhile ....... I hope that means you are busy planning and getting ready to sell your idea!!!
Looks good.....Ok..... this is sounding better and better.....
"We do have plans to offer several different dimensions and styles of campers that we will ship as standard products. One thing we are exploring is how to enable customers to customize the camper themselves. For example, we are...
Glad to hear you are moving forward with your plans
Any plans to build different dimension units..... or only the dimensions of the first unit?
We explorers are a fussy lot!
If you could build simple cave campers in custom dimensions.... that would fit my needs and I bet many others too!
I agree with texag02
I love the concept but want a full cabover.... just big enough for a queen bed.... also have family of 4
I have sent a couple emails to the cave camper folks from their website.....have heard nothing back yet.... not sure if they are going ahead with their plans or if this...
Have you started your new camper yet?
It looks like I may have a buyer for my Tacoma camper project.... which I did not finish sadly.... and a tacoma no longer fits my family....
The crazy world of home builders!
I am already planning a simpler camper for my new Tundra!
Thanks for the positive comment Kamperfan.
I would need a huge push of energy to finish it.... as I need to get a larger vehicle to fit my tall kids.... and so really I need a full size pop up camper now.
I have pondered just completing the shell as that would be easier to sell. Perhaps even...
The shell is finished. Doors need to be completed and installed. The pop-up fabric needs to be made and installed , and then the interior built.
So really.... a ton of work. Today I added up all the receipts for the aluminum frame, aluminum skin, 3M tape, insulation, window, door latches...
Lightweight camper custom designed for Tacoma.
Just have not had the time and motivation to finish it.... and feel I should now move on.
I hate to even think of the time and money invested....... but I am open to all offers.
build thread is found here...
Well....... it has been two years since I worked on my camper.....
Somehow life has gotten in the way.... had to get more work for wages to pay for all the travel.....and.... and..... yeesh
Now my sons are getting too big to ride in the Tacoma double cab.... and I am pondering selling the...
I can relate
I have been on the road for 7 weeks with my family touring Canada
I too had hoped to have a completed camper but as my wife says every time she sees a pop up truck camper
"They don't look like they are having any more fun than us!"
Have fun on your trip!
