The cabin fever really started to set in this weekend so I did a little bit of exploring (don't worry, I never came in contact with anyone).

Tag for pics. That thing is rad. Cool, I dig the simplicity of this. Don't always need a $3k drawer setup to go sleep in the woods.

Need help deciding, Why a Tacoma over a full size truck?

Out east we have a shitload of little trees 😂 I think we're arguing two different points. A trail rig is not necessarily the same thing as a family vehicle, and that's not what I was trying to say. My point was that no, your (and also my) fullsize truck is not, and will not be as capable...

Need help deciding, Why a Tacoma over a full size truck?

I'm gonna respond to this because I said earlier that my fullsize pickup would have trouble fitting thru the trails around here. It would. And if you're buying a truck to go four wheeling in, one of the things you probably ought to take into consideration is whether it will fit where you...

Need help deciding, Why a Tacoma over a full size truck?

I have a 4Runner and a 08 Sierra. The 4Runner gets driven 95% of the time because it's easier to park, even if it is lifted and armored. I can't imagine trying to fit that pickup through some of the trails around here, even if it was seriously built. Tight turns and squeezing through trees would...

    Folding hammock recommendations?

One of my friends got a folding hammock as a bday present from his wife a few years back and he's brought it on a few camping trips. I've fallen in love with it and want my own. I need one with a folding frame so I can use it in my yard with its one tree, and am looking for something that...

    Opinions......

I'm a little surprised there's a factory gearing like that, but it certainly makes me feel a little better about winding mine out. Last derail - what kind of fuel economy are you getting with 4.88s and 33s?
  13. thezentree

    Opinions......

4.88s maybe, but with 5.29s you're around 2800rpm, which seems awful high to me for just cruising down the interstate. I use mine 99% of the time as a really inefficient commuter car, so 4.56s got me back to around stock numbers. That 1% of the time though, I'd love to have 5.29s. 😆 Won't argue...

    Opinions......

I had the same debate. 4.88s would definitely be even more fun around town but if you plan on spending time on the interstate, I'd go with 4.56s. I'm at ~2400rpm at 70mph on 285s.

4.56 gears made my 3rd gen way more fun to drive.

AdventureTaco - turbodb's build and adventures

I dig the “what did/didn’t work” review posts you’ve been doing. I don’t get out in the woods as much as you do, but I’ve been trying to keep track of things that need to be improved when I do. Yours might save me some time, money, and frustration.
