    Camper for the Cold

GREAT info!! When I had my truck camper I would shut the fridge off for the winter and insulate the backside to help keep the camper warmer. Then I thought would it not make more sense to pull the fridge and completely insulate around the fridge so it is cut off from the heat of the camper...

    Camper for the Cold

Forced air cannot create condensation. If it does then you have a BIG problem. Forced air is like a home furnace and the water vapor in the propane is vented with the exhaust. Propex, Webasto, Espar are the same design as a forced air (draw cold air in, return hot air, vent exhaust) but...

Freeze dried hash browns - who else likes them?

It is not the potatoes but what they cover them in. It is scary how much stuff has extras added. Cheese slices are coated in flour. Wine gums have potato added. Hot dogs have milk added. Getting to the point that you cannot eat anything without reading the ingredients.

    My Journey

I understand what you are going through with your dog, I am so sorry. I am going through the same thing with mine. I have a 15 year old Border Collie / rottweiler cross. She use to travel with me then it became too hard for her to sit in a vehicle for a long time so she would stay home. I...

    Residential fridges

I think your missing something here. Build your unit and put a cooler in it. Go on a long trip to some country that has lower prices for fridge. Remove cooler replace with lower price fridge then go home :ROFLMAO::unsure::(:p

    Camper for the Cold

That seems high but you are now heating a bigger space then what a truck camper would be. As an example for a tcer when I was using my truck camper over a winter which would include probably two dozen days of really cold I would not even drain a full 20lb tank - I did have two on board but had...

    Camper for the Cold

Had an older NL and loved it. Sold it because I could not go from the front to the back, not because of the unit or the build. -30c and no issues but I did go dry camping below freezing. Also made some storm windows as my windows were single pane. The newer NL's are even better, There are a...

Wanted: Vehicle for boondocking in extreme cold

I have camped in insane temperatures in gear that was not made for it because I was young. I have camped in insane temperatures in equipment that was designed for it. I have a vehicle that is 1' outside my studio door that can go all winter in crazy temps and I would survive very well. BUT I...

Wanted: Vehicle for boondocking in extreme cold

Honestly to answer your questions we really need a lot more information. To start when you say start after being off for a time how long are you talking? If it is more then a day running the vehicle that long is not wise. You may find more things breaking with just letting it idle for days on...

Request for NL/Bigfoot Fiberglass Camper Owners - Drain Holes in Floor

Your propane furnace does not add humidity to your camper. A Buddy or other internally vented units will but a furnace will not. Always good to open vents and windows in the morning to dry out.

    2020 Ford Transit AWD

I went with a medium roof as I can stand up (just) and it makes it seem so much larger. If you are spending a lot of time inside, extreme cold temps, get something that is comfortable. Reason I did not go high roof is that I did not need it and the little less wind resistance was GREAT!!

    Crawl through escape history

One was reason that I went to a van from a truck camper was to have the ability to go from the front to the back. We were camped one time with the TCer and a group of young redneck kids showed up. We had to leave the camper and get into the truck. Fortunately no problem as we bailed before...

Request for NL/Bigfoot Fiberglass Camper Owners - Drain Holes in Floor

Remember if you can let water out then water can get in. I would do more to prevent water from getting in then putting a lot of holes in. I had two holes in mine at the rear under the storage and in the dump valves and I found that spray from the tires in a heavy rain would get water in.
