    ARB JACK vs. Hi-Lift Jack

The Hi-Lift is designed by humans for use by humans. As such, with a human's propensity to make mistakes and fail to pay attention, it is a hazardous design. Sure, if you do everything right, no problem. Even if you discount the base design, the ARB design has less user error hazards and pinch...

    ARB JACK vs. Hi-Lift Jack

Yeah, well it does if it fits. If it doesn't fit, then it's really sketchy. But I think you're definitely right. I like the bumpers or sliders that have pockets specifically designed for a hi-lift foot. That probably makes a pretty big difference. It's true that most modern vehicles aren't...

    ARB JACK vs. Hi-Lift Jack

Yeah. I was referring to what I saw in the video. The Hi-Lift's hook will hit in different spots on different vehicles. Not everyone has the experience and familiarity with hi-lifts as some. So that's where a simpler, though limited, product is still good to have. To clarify, the ARB jack in...

    ARB JACK vs. Hi-Lift Jack

Mostly the contact point. The Hi-Lift was only contacting the hook. The ARB was contacting the the whole flat of the slider. The base also conforms to the angle of the ground on it's own.

    ARB JACK vs. Hi-Lift Jack

Last month I went out with Harry Wagner and Bradd Davidsonto test and shoot photos and video of the new ARB Hydraulic Jack for off road vehicles. I did a test of each lifting Harry’s Jeep LJ. My conclusions are that the ARB JACKis a far better and safer tool for lifting a vehicle than a Hi-Lift...

Open Differentials vs. Traction Control vs. Lockers

Thanks! My understanding is that they do well as long and both tires have some traction. If one comes up entirely, they don’t work. -m Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Open Differentials vs. Traction Control vs. Lockers

Agreed, watching these clips, made me realize that I reach for that locker before trying a better line. Probably better to go for the better line first. I'll be thinking about that in the future. -M

Open Differentials vs. Traction Control vs. Lockers

On a recent group trip we came across a perfect natural experiment to see how OPEN DIFFERENTIALS, LOCKERS, and TRACTION CONTROL handle the same obstacle. I got video of it all and you can see that below. Here are my thoughts on what we saw: How A Differential Works Here's the best video I've...

2012 Power Wagon Build w Smart Bar Mods

I think we can all agree that the Ram Power Wagon is the best looking production 4x4 truck on the market today. No? Ok, well then. Can we at least all agree that with a factory lift, front and rear lockers, disconnecting sway bars and burly skid plates and guards and a 12,000 pound Warn...

DIY Overlanding Pickup Truck Bed Rack for our Ford F-150

I’m not going to go into the WHY of a bed rack like this. I think it’s a concept that isn’t super obvious since you can’t really carry lumber or big ladders on it. If you get it, awesome. There are a lot of off-the-shelf options to make a bed rack like this. The best designs I’ve seen are low...

Did it require winching? We’re thinking 37s would do the trick. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yeah, that's why we winched it. An 87 suburban would be a rad off roader I would think. -M
