Fiberglass mat isn't expensive, it's a couple of bucks per yard, I doubt that's very much more than fleece. What's expensive is the resin to saturate it, and I'd bet fleece would take more resin than 'glass. I doubt resin-soaked fleece would have any strength either. Overall I think it's a bad idea.
