Hi all, my name is Craig and about a month ago I bought an Ltt-f chassis trailer 2006 model. it's pretty much a copy of the M1101/02 without the box. The plan is to build a wood box camper with a sleeping quarters and a rear galley. So far progress has been slow and will continue to be if I have anything to do with it lol. So far I've removed the channel and decking, added a 7 prong plug and installed 12volt LED trailer lights. I've got hubs on the way so I can match my FJ bolt pattern. I also weighed it after stripping the deck its 1020lbs. The hummer wheels weigh in at 165lbs each so I estimate it should weigh about 850 once the wheels are replaced. It's a pretty heavy starting point but i'll work with what I got for now. Future may see a timbren axle with electric brakes but for now I'm going to see how it works out. The plan now is to keep things simple, build the structure out of 3/4 plywood and epoxy fiberglass it to help keep it all together and protected and then paint or bedliner. I'm also planning a simple 3/4 inch framework to the interior walls so I can put some foam board insulation and then finish it off with a 1/4 or 1/8 plywood. This will also give me an easy way to run the wiring. Any ideas, concerns are welcome as I'm new to this and certainly have a lot to learn.
. As a reference when i had it weighed before I put the RTT up there and it was something like 922 lbs so your starting point isn't too bad. How is the track on that thing, wider or narrower than the FJ? My only complaint is that once in a while I'm on a rutted up road and my trailer's track is just slightly narrower than the FJ and it can bounce between the ruts, hasn't happened many times but was annoying when it did. I'd still rather have it narrower than wider though. Good luck on your build!
