So what we've learned is that Toyo tires, the 285/75/17 specifically, are/is much larger than other makes of marked larger tires. It's been well known for a while that BFG tires measure small, but I had no idea that Yokohama's did as well. It's wise to note that tires off the vehicle don't measure to the same height once mounted and under the weight of the vehicle itself.

Pretty darn close but I bet one's quieter.:) I've been running 35-12.50-17 AT2's on my Ram 2500 for years.I'm going back to the 285-75-17 AT3's soon.

This is why I order tires based on specified size not stamped size. The toyo in 285/75r17 measure something like 33.9 x 11.3, where the Yoko 35x12.5r17 measure 34.7x13.2, now 13.2 might be a stretch as I’ve had wide tires and these aren’t them.

Surprisingly at this stage the Mt’s are quieter, I chalk it up to the softer rubber compound. So I cringe at thinking long term mileage. I loved the AT’s for everything but clay. We have a off-road rally in late October in TN so fresh meat was needed.

I am going to follow your thoughts on the tires...it has been my second choice so far for next year for my trip to Baja. I have Duratracs and they are good for my needs now, but I do not trust them for Baja.
