Project "Autonomous" F-350

When I was a kid we had a 12x 25' 1-1/2 story shed that we sold. The guy used 4? high lift jacks and a million pallets as cribbing to lift that thing high enough to back the trailer under. It was terrifying but I guess it worked.

Yes, terrifying. Camper jacks scare me. The problem is that I can't just drop it on the trailer. The frame needs to be welded to the box in order to have any strength. It's only 4 inch c channel. Otherwise I would just jack up one end and then winch it up. I might have another avenue but I can't reach the guy I need to talk to. He needs to borrow a box to put on his gooseneck trailer. That would allow me to just move the box. I can then use the axles for a car hauler build.

I'd put four 4x4 posts in the ground and connect them. Then use ratchet straps to lift the box.

Rip the posts out of the ground and save them for another project. Unless you have a spot where 4 unsightly posts would be ok.

Working on the prerunner today. I modified the rear bumper to accept a trailer hitch. Then went about designing a mount for the fuel cell I am mounting. The stock in-tank pump went out so I dropped the tank and replaced it. The truck sat for a couple months. Then the new pump went out. No mas! I tried to modify the factory pump housing to work without the pump but no luck. They don't make them to be modified. Going with a fuel cell and external pump like on the uhaul. God I hate newer trucks.

Here is the mount.

And the tank. It's the same volume as stock 20 gallons.

You know I'm not going to do anything simple. The spot where I'm mounting the fuel tank is currently occupied by a tool chest. The tool chest was bolted to the bed floor. That's not good enough for a tank full of gas so I am tying the tank mount into the bed cage.

Wanting to shield the tank and still allow for some storage, I am sinking the tank into the tool chest.

It was a tight squeeze. It took some head scratching.

The chest was already modified to clear the down tubes.

Made it. Next time I do this I won't do it during the day when it's 115 degrees out! I stole the front tires once I got there to put on my trailer. It's a good thing to have so many 8 lug vehicles.

Well, The thermostat took a dump on the way back to the shop for another load. Came in on the hook. Thank goodness for AAA. Changed the T-stat, flushed the coolant, and did an oil change and tune-up. It could have been worse. Going to flat tow the Uhaul too, but not in the heat. ?

Wrapping up the colorado fuel system. External pump and filters, AN lines, it's been an adventure. Frank at Forsyth Speed Shop was instrumental in getting the project done. Thanks Frank! Forsyth is an old school speed shop that's filled with eye candy. It's the kind of place to go if you need a question answered by a competent person.
