Shame on me I never seem to have time to work on the trailer. Had under two hours to change door jamb and bound door and side divider . That will make it so the skins are smaller, Wire run and two are more side profile have the skins made. 6 hr. to get to this point. If I can get time under 20 hr. to finish. There a gent that just built a fiberglass skeleton frame with aluminum signboard bought doors and windows 10 x 5 x5 sides .21 hours for full trailer pod build

I should have been clearer. Plan to build in under 50 hrs. This from of building uses a fiberglass skeleton frame. No wood . Wood get wet just from the water in the air. This form of building with fiberglass has been around for over 70 years are more Not in the last few years as some have claimed .View attachment 465837View attachment 465838
Definitely, fiberglass technology goes back way before the first Corvette in 1953. Proven technology. And as you state. The weakness is using wood as the form.... as most runabout boats still do.
I'm very impressed with the construction technique. Be very cool to camp beside you.

.This why this style of building cannot be mess up.even if you made one side longer /shorter the cross bars get squared to the trailtop rails then get trim .Their two cross bars top and lower .I see so many trailer with just one 45 cut on the front . When ask why . to hard to frame more then one This way it just glue.and go IF you look at the top you can see a resets lip you square that to the Trailtop railing .then trim any out of square at the point where the red meets the white. This is why you can make as wide as you want.We all want a square trailer when work with wood it's a pain if out of square .Well things happen. With this build . you keep the infill tab square . Then you let what ever is wrong goes to the over lapin joints on the outside corner . Then you trim . Your eye can not pick it up. This way your in fill is cut square. If doing a woody Home depot will cut the wood for you . any bad places will be hid in the seam

Had a few inquires. About the Cross tie in. So pictures. You need only to square the lips for. in fill. The infill needs to have the corners cut near a 45. To save shoulder of tabs look at pictures

Look at pictures Regardez les photos

Spent 30 minutes Tuesday. On the trailtop fiberglass Component trailer. I added these fiberglass spacers that were first made so you could make a 60 inch wide pod .Using 48 inch wide stock .I have found by adding them make it so you can break up large spaces .Also one style in each space. IE. Smooth on the bottom and woody on top .For an off road trailer diamond plate on the bottom smooth on top .You could make Z shape on the side for an 50s look.

Some how I lost all the pictures So will do a new Door if I can not find pictures
Doors seams the number two hated thing on a trailer build behind the hatch. You can use the dropdown horse trailers windows. As most are using. Their heavy as hell $ 135 ea. on a skid of 60. So now you need only need two $400 ea. $40+ to crate .$60.00 two 100.00 to ship. You cannot perform any repairs easy .But thinking I will build .OK you have the cut out of wood .Can rot, warp leak. But how about a low cost light door that won’t rot, warp can get as fancy as you want. The steps are made outside skin .Glue and trim the foam, NO wood are epoxy resin. Lay up inside skins in stall Hardware. D outer skins on this trailer is going to be flat and set in the door jam. So can be produced on anything flat. But if you have something with a texture you can pick up a reverse look easy .Just wax it and use as tooling IF you prefer part of the door to cover the side .With a small reset in the door jam. Cut some hard board to shape of inter of the door with small gap. To be even fancier make a 1/8 ring as tooling where the outside of door is. Take molding clay perform a C shape with a dime .Will create a rounded corner at the edge of the door. Will add pictures by editing post

Sorry about not posting .Working and life .Even had a few think I was part of the ### men that posted that they invent trailtop components in 2011 .At first they where fishing for $30.00 -$35 a foot . Most fiberglass shop will make any shape you want. Where I get my parts use 3D printers to make the tooling Have never seen over $12.00 US a running foot Same profit
Back to the door Same as you build with wood but going on a 100 year trailer
.Part one of 100 year trailer door .Started my low cost no rot /warp wiley window & door blank .cost $30 US. First thing fiberglass polyester resin DOES NOT EAT THE RIGHT HOME DEPOT FOAM! Anyone telling you different is uninformed .Stay away from any resin are gel=coat that has wax only foolest use it. The first thing find anything hard wax #2 apply gel-coat are 2 part polyester primer. #3 apply 2 layers 1.5oz mat then 7oz woven covered 1.5 oz. mat.#4 let cure #5 Cut window opening .I like to keep low in the door .Cold night air to flow over your face. Cut the right foam .Trim to one inch of edge .Trim edge of foam to 45 rounding top. Ruff up top and bottom of foam. #6 glue to outer skin let cure. #7 cover with 1.5 oz mat 7oz woven 1.5 oz mat . Merci pour la lecture outer skin and window

This is the fastest easiest way to build .But work great as the slowest way No wood to rot ,swell .warp .
Less than 15 minutes every two weeks for the last four months install all the small panels in back and top and built 3 doors.
The last front panel is left out to help get inside if pod is on it side. glass over foam 100 year glue and go trailer. Going for a raised panel look on this trailer

Was this trailer at the Sacramento Cal Expo swap meet last fall? I thought I recognized it when I was there.
