    Gen 3 to Gen 2.5

I did the opposite to you where I went from 2.5 to gen 3, like other have said the gen 3 is more comfortable on the road than the 2.5 and I can concur. The 2.5 isn't like terrible but it's easier to feel worse on the road. For what I'm doing the gen 3 made more sense since I'm mostly putting...

2003 Montero with Lovells Springs and Koni Shock Lift

I hate to say it but I listed the settings right at the top of the post lol. And they can be adjusted but from my understanding they are at the softest setting from stock. Now I could be wrong but thats what I've heard.

Opinions on Condition (based on these photos)

For east coast "rust" that's about as good as it gets. As long as it's just the surface, like it looks like, the only thing you should worry about is keeping it from getting worse

Should be on the driver side valve cover in the front

    Am i way off?

I personally think that's very fair, especially if it doesn't have a whole lot of mileage and the maintenance has been alright.

    Toasty's '98 Montero Build

That interesting that the v8 is that much lighter, how difficult of a swap will it be?

Finally got myself a Gen 2.5, now, major maintenance update time.

I don't know if you've seen this yet but here's a good bit of information for things you can get for the monty, including the bushing information http://www.adventuredrivendesign.com/tech/

The Story of Rocky (1999 2.5)

Did a transmission fluid change and removed the running boards, looks much cleaner now and the shifts are smoother. Next up are the ball joints. Also the 85amp alternator is working fine but im guessing i don't have much headroom for adding more electronics to the system.

The Story of Rocky (1999 2.5)

Yeah that is what killed the last one, that and it was a crappy aftermarket. Picked up a oem from car-part but they sent me the wrong one so i've got to deal with 85 amps instead of the stock 100, if it becomes a problem i'll just plan for the 110 amp upgrade.

The Story of Rocky (1999 2.5)

Its been awhile but here's the update: Made the 350 mile trip on really bad tires just alright, already have 2 new ones to replace them for the time being, also made about 15-16 mpg. Still leaking oil but sadly I wont have the time till I get back from my summer job. The alternator died on me...

Using a lower amp alternator in 2.5 Montero

So the alternator I got from the junkyard isn't quite right (bought online) it's for a Sport 3.0/3.5 and montero 3.0, the only real difference I think is the amperage, 85 compared to my 2.5 Montys 100. Would it still work in just daily use? Cause I just need a alternator that works. I don't have...

The Story of Rocky (1999 2.5)

Took it out for long drive today to get use to the vehicle at highway speeds and to see if the cel would come on, and I almost got away with no cel. Same fuel trim code and a new code, P0125 popped up (engine coolant temperature sensor). I was able to fix that and cleaned out some of the coolant...
