What to put in my Faraday box?

Understood, My hope is this box will render the items inside usable after a CME or EMP. The use as a RF blocker is really not a consideration. To be honest, I am not sure it will be able to handle (what I would call amps) the power placed on it in a EMP. A CME is probably doable, as I understand...

Any lovers of shooting with scopes here?

Very nice rig! You should be able to reach 700yds with that set up. I have a burris XTR II on a 308. I have hit 600yds, but a few friends running the same set up have done 700yds. Mine is a 18" barrel. Here is a pic of my dad shooting it at 600yds:

What to put in my Faraday box?

What are the ranges of an EMP from a high altitude blast? how about the range of fallout the same blast, which is further. I know fallout is based on wind currents, how about an EMP?

What to put in my Faraday box?

Almost like our forefathers. My thermal and 6mm Creedmore are slighty more advanced than what was available back then. lol. Yes, my thermal will survive, it is in my farady box.

What to put in my Faraday box?

I have a good multi meter in there. Calculator is a good idea, However, the ipad has a calculator app, what do you think? My thinking is protecting electronics from a CME or EMP is not a prepper thing, more like a drybag for keeping items dry. Prepper covers a wide gamut to be sure. I do prep...

What to put in my Faraday box?

The intended use is to protect against CME's and EMP's. I know that is a wide spectrum but I have been able to block 50mhz all the way to 5ghz with total blockage. Will it stop a high altitude nuke or EMP? Dunno yet. Agreed about the cell phones. But, the apps will still work, maybe even the...

What to put in my Faraday box?

I just finished a project with a 1650 Pelican case that I have had around for ages. I lined it with Titan RF fabric and tape that I purchased from Mission Darkness. The pelican has a lid organizer and a old style padded divider. My intent was to put in a few radios and an ipad. After I was...

External Speaker to Use with a Yaesu-FTM400

I have two of the cheap ones you linked to in my TJ (one for CB and one for tri-band). They do work, but the first two you linked too are way better. Idling through a trail, they are great but a little wind and speed and the cheap one is hard to hear.

External Speaker to Use with a Yaesu-FTM400

Save the space on the ram mount for other (important) stuff. Put the speaker on the side or under the dash, seat, etc.. Nice set up BTW!!

    FM on CB is here

FM will have better rx but to be useful, both rx and tx units would need to be FM, meaning you would have to upgrade to take advantage of your friends FM unit. I am firmly settled in the UHF band. Way too much $$ invested to go back to HF.

Is it worth to invest an expensive portable solar generator for camping?

Do some research and build one. The learning curve is worth the time.

    DIY On-board Welder

Regarding the high discharge, With the premier power (stick) it might be a problem. With the readywelder (wire) it should not be. The stick works on constant current (CC) and the wire works on constant voltage (CV). I have not tried stick yet, so I cannot say for sure this is true using...

    DIY On-board Welder

I would agree, I cannot even jump another car with a full one, the BMS shuts it down. AGM's work great though. Cool repair you did to the spring/shock plate!!

    DIY On-board Welder

I would suggest a readywelder if you know nothing about welding. Stick is an art, fluxcore wire welding is easier to master in a pinch. Either way, my suggestion is that you practice with whatever you end up with BEFORE you need it. Also suggest carrying bits of scrap to gusset and band aid your...
