    Jerry cans, which to choose?

I've got several. A couple have never been used. I had used ones previously and wasn't happy with the seal so assumed new ones would be better. Still not happy. Thought they would at least be adequate for the vertical tire carrier but I always see where gas has dripped down the side and people...

    Jerry Cans Plastic vs Metal

Another vote here for Scepters. I've used plenty of metal cans but have now settled on Scepter MFC. Nothing seals like a Scepter.

    Jerry cans, which to choose?

Definitely go with the Scepter MFC. Being in BC, I'd recommend buying from DS as it will likely cost you much less with shipping and they have more selection of colors. I've yet to find a metal can that holds a candle to the Scepter and I would never, never consider carrying a metal can on its...

DRAM 3, Dirt Roads Across Maine. The Legend Continues.

Great report. Always enjoy them. Hoping to get up that way and beyond soon as we own 96 acres near Mabou on Cape Breton Island and only my brother has been there to check it out . . . nearly ten years ago.

Pelican vs. Boyt vs Condition 1

I've had a Boyt and a Pelican side by side on my roof rack for a few years now. In the weather 24-7-365. The Pelican seals tight and is all plastic so no rust. The Boyt latches have rusted and because there is no latch on the ends the top has warped slightly and doesn't seal as tight as the...

A New Approach to Drawer Slides

With the price of the heavy duty locking slides I certainly understand your goal. I would recommend using a regular paddle latch for locking the drawer closed. As for holding it open, you could either have a pin that drops through the top panel and hits a corresponding hole in the top edge of...

A New Approach to Drawer Slides

Interesting twist . . . but every method has + and - This design exchanges the savings in space on the sides (due to lack of ball bearing slides) for wasted space below the drawer (space required by bearings and channel/guide). In addition, this doesn't allow for full extension of the slide...

What do you put in your peli case?

I have two of the rifle size cases attached to my roof rack. I carry the following low value items and more in those two case and it really help with interior space and accessibility of the items. I've never locked them even when parked at hotels. PETT toilet with wag bags axe bow saw tent with...

composite or synthetic plastic wood alternative for drawers/ box ?

To expand on the two posts above: 1) Baltic birch is great but is heavier than standard "cabinet grade/hardwood" plywood. If you buy "cabinet grade/hardwood" plywood, try to get poplar core. It is stronger, lays flatter and the plies won't separate like fir core plywoods will. 2) One...

composite or synthetic plastic wood alternative for drawers/ box ?

I've searched high and low and talked to reps from airplane cabinet makers to plastics manufacturers. There are options but most are just as heavy or heavier and if they are lighter they are always much more costly than plywood. It's really tough to beat a well-constructed wood unit.

    Post up your drawer/storage system

This is correct for heavy duty slides. For example, a heavy duty slide which is rated 500 pounds in a stationary location (cabinet installed in a building) will only be rated 250-300 pounds in a mobile environment (back of truck or SUV due to possibility of not being parked on a level surface)...

    AEV RAM At Sema.

Great looking "Ausi inspired" truck ! Still like the quad cab better (for my purposes) and almost bought a silver 2014 Ram 3500 crew cab long bed after being inspired by last year's AEV build . . . until the deal fell through and I ended up with a new 2013 F350 Lariat crew cab long bed. PS -...

    FJ Summit #8

We promote it as a "Toyota 4x4 based" event because 1) that's the way it was started 2) many of the vendors are specific to Toyota models and 3) because of #2 we try to preserve the value of the event to the vendors/sponsors. Most of the trails in the area are very tourist friendly so you can...

    FJ Summit #8

How did I miss a thread on Expo about FJ Summit #8 ? As listed below, we welcome all Toyota 4x4 models. :smiley_drive: In theory that sounds fine . . . but if their name were on it they would want to take it over and then they would probably just kill it. You really do. There is no...
