Thanks. No regrets on the G56. The manual transmission coupled with the selectable exhaust brake make controlling speed on long descents, even when towing nice and easy. 1rst gear on the manual is half the ratio of 1rst on an Auto trans, so it crawls nice and slow and steady when you ask it to.

It's been a while since I've provided an update on the truck and camper. It is still working well and being used as planned. The odometer is up to 66,000 miles now so I'd say it is broken in. I've only made one significant addition and that was a BD Diesel Performance 2 Lo Unlock Differential...
The truck was sourced with set of Glowsteps that only had 4 treads. They didn't reach the ground. I ordered two separate treads and added them to the existing stair. Works fine to reach the door which sits at 4' off the ground. The adjustable feet at the bottom are handy too. They stow in...
We rigged a 2500 with CTD and 6 speed with a flatbed Hawk and other stuff to get Power Wagon capability but with more towing and cargo capacity. It's not a daily driver and I haven't taken the FWC off yet, but it's nice to know I could if I needed the truck to do something without it. We've...
Thanks,
I put a depth guage on them this morning. All are just a little over 5/16" tread depth at the center with a little more wear toward the shoulders. Online specs say the tread depth was 15/32" when new, but I didn't measure it.
Sorry. Working in wet conditions in Houston and my phone is acting up. I've been following your trips. My phone opened your thread and with auto fill just made a post. I think it signed me up for a Russian wife, joined 3 questionable Facebook groups, and bought me a new car while it was in...
1rst gear on the manual is about half that of the auto. Gearing isn't a problem at all. 6000 miles in on the current trip and getting 14.5 mpg with the trailer in tow. No issues with emissions system. Just had fuel filters changed today at 22,000 miles as requested by the EVIC system. Max...
Unfortunately the pics were all on Photobucket. We're up in Alaska now. I'll deal with getting them rehosted and linked when we get back in Oct. I'm posting in the In Progress Adventures section in the ROF's Canada and Alaska 2017 thread if you want to see scattered photos of the truck.

Nice trip. I'm sure you are happy to be back to the heat and humidity. Cadillac Ranch was looking a little like mudhole. Great pics from along the way.
