ended up scoring a rhino rack 270 batwing awning a couple of weeks ago and been doing too much work around the house to get it mounted. We're going camping and 11 days so I wanted to get it installed and get it checked out. I got to say it is way easier to deploy and stow than the ARB awnings...
These actually have a steel superstructure underneath of them and then the fiberglass is molded around them.
A lot of people have given up on the torsion bar when they break and use gas shocks mounted externally.

Took last weekend and headed to Garden of the God's in southern Illinois..
Got to see a controlled burn of a forrest and some kinda dry waterfalls. The geology is amazing!!
Also ended up at the Mississippi River!! She's a biggun!

Decided to go ahead and install the diesel heater permanently in the van. Wasn't bad at all went ahead and cut me an Access hole in the floor to directly drill into the fuel tank. I spent several hours trying to get the fuel line down the filler neck and there's a safety check valve to keep...
check your intermediate shaft under the steering wheel that's what they recommended for me to replace initially mine turned out to be okay but as much of a pain in the neck as it was to get it out I went ahead and replaced it anyway.
he was helping me wire stuff up and started laughing he goes...
After all the adjustments I can make and having it sent to two different alignment shops I still had a little bit of a wander in it that was just minute.. before I decided to spend $300+ on a new steering box went ahead and got a stabilizer and at his taking care of the last of the nuisance...
Well been a while since an update!
Mostly just working and doing little things as the summer comes to a close.
Last week or so has been body work and reorganizing for fall trips..
Panels from millsupply.com glued n rivited on after rust cut out n treated...she's getting plastic fender liners...
Fortunately where I cut it actually ended up being within a quarter of an inch of the same horizontal plane so I didn't have to actually compensate for any curve of the roof other than just the downturn edges of the top where the seal is.
LI think the rear has a little bit more of a bend to it...
Got van out of shop aligned 100%..and the rear outter wheel bearing decided to take a vacation..

Well I got the van back together finally without breaking another...
super fun weekend in Allegheny still don't have the steering dialed in quite right I think I'm going to take it over to the four-wheel drive shop and have it looked at. Got a lotta Castor out at the bottom and it still doesn't track perfectly right still squirrely..

Yeah I was looking at the rates earlier n think that might just be the ticket n I'm ok with one more inch in height!! Axle is less than 2.5 in from crossmember notch..
