You taught me something. I was under the impression that the condensation formed on the walls of the tent and then rolled down to the floor. To get the accumulated water off of the floor, the mattress was raised up by the mats to allow the condensation/water to evaporate instead of being trapped...

Great write-up and great pics! Utah is fantastic. Its almost like being on another planet. All things being equal, I prefer Colorado as there are more trees and wildlife. Its cool that your only "damage" could have been repaired with chewing gum. That's the kind of trail damage I prefer.

The big negative to a car mounted RTT is that once the RTT is set up, the car is out of commission. So, if you need to run into town to grab some ice, it is a bit inconvenient to pack it up and then come back and re-deploy.

Most of the time, the car is carrying the tent, so carrying it really isn't too hard. Most people have a RTT because they are more comfortable, not less.

Hard to tell in your pic, but do the yoga mats have thousands of holes in them? If not, you really arent doing anything to prevent condensation. if they do not have holes in them, get crazy with a drill or sharp pencil and make a bunch of holes in the mats to allow air to get in there and...
