5.9 or 6.7 Cummins? Want to weigh in?

IMHO, avoid 53 blocks and anything with DEF and DPF and whatever else ruins those engines.

GMT400 Suburban as Base Overland Rigs?

I love my 1999 GMT400. A 350 or 454 GMT400 is a reliable and inexpensive truck with lots of potential. Keep in mind that any potential roof racks or bumpers or interior storage or whatever will be almost exclusively custom as the truck was never marketed in this manner like the Toyotas and...

    GMT400 - a love/hate relationship

The 6.5 is solid for some and notsomuch for others. I was one of the unfortunate ones. Keep it cool and have spare PMDs on hand.

    GMT400 - a love/hate relationship

This is my experience with them as well. There seems to be no rhyme or reason when they used 10.5" 14 bolts and 9.5" 14 bolts.

    Diesel engines

This is not the case. No lift is required, but a 1-2" body lift makes it easier.

    Diesel engines

I currently have a 6.5TD in my suburban, but go Cummins and don't look back. Especially as your truck is a squarebody, you'll have plenty of room, and there are many mfgs making conversion parts to ease the job. I have a 12 valve in my shop almost completely prepped and ready to drop in my...

Dirt King 4x4 LT kit. Might as well do it right the first time.

1994 full size Blazer lift and tires

Drop bracket kits and torsions are not suited for actual Offroad use. Either get a long travel kit, or solid axle swap. I considered the normal whatever kit, and while the cheap cost was tempting, I have zero regrets about fixing the IFS.

    ejs262's Suburban(s?)!

Generally more leafs (leaves?) can grant you a smoother spring rate.

I have ORD Zero-Rates on the front of my suburban to clear the hydro ram clamp, might look into those to gain another inch.
