I ended up finding an "Emgo" branded one on Amazon after searching "cheap top case KLR". I'm pretty happy with it for only $65. I really dislike the look of the Givi style boxes. Install was clean and easy.
I recently picked a KLR to build for some light exploring and road trips. My wife is used to a sissy bar or padded top case on my ATV. I'm curious if anyone has cobbled together something of a top case with a pad for around $100.
The only thing Gargle, Fleabay and the usual scumbags want to...
With that AT I would still recommend doing the radiator trans cooler bypass and adding an aftermarket trans cooler. The guide is easy to find with a quick search for 'Xterra Radiator Bypass'. The peace of mind I got from it was well worth the $85 I spent on parts and fluid. Otherwise, be sure to...
+1 to all this. I have a 2005 xterra and have done the same for the same reasons. However I went with Old Man Emu heavy duty rear leafs and a Timbren brand air helper.
Harbor Freight Tools, it's really nice for a bolt-on model. Been using one on another trailer for a while. Recommend putting thread locker on the bolts that hold it to the tongue.
Yellowstone Grant Village Campground forced me into an RV spot for the RTT on a small trailer. It wasn't fun listening to generators and water pumps every morning and night.
I actually got kicked out of a tent spot for the RTT on my truck last summer. I really think it comes down to the camp host.
It's a 20mm round can, holds the ammo for the M61 Vulcan: http://www.gunpartscorp.com/Products/1086660.htm
The new tongue went very well. I replaced the damaged 0.0938" tongue with a much heavier .25" tube and welded it to the frame. The trailer has about 15 fewer rattles going down the road...
Ran into some trouble with the RTT ladder while I was testing my stands out.
I put some gorilla glue on it until I can figure out a more permanent fix.
Mounted a table for my stove under the RTT. Cooking in the annex will be nice.
