    Montero clutch problem

I picked up my Montero from the shop today. They replaced the clutch plate with a new one and they resurfaced the flywheel due to the glazing on the flywheel. No charge for this repair since the clutch failed within less than 600 miles from the original clutch rebuild. They had to remove the...

    Montero clutch problem

Thanks for the suggestion. The rear main seal that was replaced less than 600 miles ago, could have failed early. I'll have to ask the shop when they dig into it.

    Montero clutch problem

The clutch slippage problem always occurred while going up hi-way grades, never on flat city terrain. The factory clutch failed at 104,000+ miles while going up grades. This rebuild failed while going up grades. I remember now that after the first couple of months of getting the rebuild, I...

    Montero clutch problem

Have a 1991 mits Montero 105178 miles. Clutch burned up. This was new complete clutch replacement 2 years ago. Clutch kit, engine crankshaft seal kit, clutch master cylinder, resurfaced flywheel, and new transfer case and transmission gear oil. It had 570 hi-way and City miles on it. Towed it to...

    Need comfortable shocks

I have the white kyb's and they are definitely stiff. They work better than Metamucil! I'll have to check out the silver's or bilstien equivalent.

    Need comfortable shocks

Hello, I need to get a more comfortable ride with my 1991 Montero LS. I've had kyb gas adjust shocks for 20years and the ride is much too stiff for me now. They are not adjustable, just the name of the kyb model. I need suggestions for what to replace these shocks with. Something that drives...

Cannot figure out this Montero clutch problem

Clutch works great and no problems with new slave cylinder and master cylinder. Took the Montero over Sierra Nevada Kaiser pass, 9200', to lake Thomas Edison. Clutch pedal stayed firm in high altitude driving. Also took it to courtright reservoir, another high altitude lake, with no problems...

Cannot figure out this Montero clutch problem

Put the new slave and master clutch cylinder on last weekend. It was very easy with a friends helpful hand. No leaks and shifts nice. This weekend I will put it to the altitude test and head up to 6-7k feet in the sierras and see if my clutch pedal stays firm and shifts like it did in 1991. BTW...

Cannot figure out this Montero clutch problem

Thanks John. Rock auto price is good. I've never done a master or slave replacement before. I did bleed the system last summer. I've been quoted labor prices of $240 and higher so I was thinking of doing it myself. Is it a simple exchange out the old part for the new one or are there some quirky...

Cannot figure out this Montero clutch problem

Hello, I am the original owner of my 1991 Mits Montero 5 spd. It has 103,000 miles on it. When I drive up grades where I'm shifting between 3rd and 4th to maintain decent 40-50mph speed, my clutch goes soft and I have to pull it back up with my toes and quick pump it to get it firm again so I...
