Wow, it's a shame that Gaia sells their app for the same money, regardless of which platform, but they don't seem to work the same. It's frustrating to Android owners. Gaia should really address the disparity
I won't make the move to iPad just for mapping software as I am comfortable with Android. I was just curious how the app performs. I see that you have a ton of maps downloaded. What happens at the end of your yearly subscription? I assume if you don't pay up your maps become useless? BTW...
How does the Gaia app perform off road with no internet signal? Is there any degradation of maps? Can I still zoom in to all levels? Running it on an Android tablet.
I enjoyed reading the account of the trip. I have some questions for you, if you don't mind.
First, what tablet did you use to run the Gaia app?
Second, I saw a few places that the tablet was mounted somewhere on the console, but nothing showed the actual mounting (unless I missed it) ...
I still wonder why we are not allowed to archive the maps for future use. Seems like the cost for the app and monthly fees warrant that. Maybe I don't get it.
As someone interested in this app, I have a question about the downloads. Isn't it possible to download directly to a folder on my computer and then transfer to the tablet when I need a specific map? I am abhorred when I read that it takes days and weeks to download a simple map.

First, I'll give you some background. I have a 4th gen V8 4Runner. It has a standard 130a alternator. I'm making an overland rig out of it. I already have cables installed through the firewall to a rear distribution box and switches for aux. lights, ham radio, fridge, etc. The next part of...
I just finished my roof rack build. It is intended, mostly, to carry a rooftop tent. I had a lot of fun building it, and saved a ton of money! All good things LOL.

I finally received a call back from one of their reps, in fact, he called me from China! He was very helpful. This sounds like a company that I will do business with. I just wish they had more info on their website, but at least I found out what I needed to know. I look forward to getting my...
