Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

G'day Iain & Trish, I stumbled upon your utube which led me here, 52 pages later, all I can say is WOW, and congrats. We are at the 6yr build mark of our Isuzu, so know what you have been thru. I read somewhere that you have canvas covers to protect the side Windows, we have the same issue...

    Super Single wheels available?

Thanks Owen, I hadn't heard of that fuso site previously but yes its one of Kym's. Sounds like there is no stock in Oz right now across the board, like lots of stuff.

    Replacement Bushes for ATW springs?

G'day All, I have ATW parabolics fitted to my 2015 Isuzu. The bushes are fine right now but thought it wise to look at options. Does anyone know if these are a standard off the shelf size or unique to ATW? Ie are they easy/quick to source when needed? Cheers

Frame flex and type and kind of spring?

Agreed, I did heaps of research and found nothing concrete, an engineer can do the maths but the inputs are different each time, I even asked 2 engineers and got different opinions on spring rates, also agreed that stronger is better than weaker. Just make a decision and move on, lots more...

Frame flex and type and kind of spring?

Following on from what Ski said, there doesn't appear to be any generally agreed rule of thumb for working out spring rates, all are different- some have no idea- just use what fits or is handy- like valve springs! FWIW, my engineer didn't care about the springs much, just wanted to know the...

    Has anyone fitted a HUD?

As I suspected the Blue driver is 12v only, I did find a 24v to 12v OBD converter plug but it only does the CAN protocol, the search continues.

    Has anyone fitted a HUD?

Thanks Cameron, I have a 2015 24v Isuzu, not sure if it will work, have emailed them. I do have a handheld plugin scanner for 24v but doesn't do live data.

    Has anyone fitted a HUD?

Hi Owen, I considered sticking Isuzu in the heading as I knew Fuso's weren't OBD friendly but thought better to keep it broad as some may have fitted HUD's to their Chevy's, GM's etc. I figured the instantaneous fuel consumption would be very handy to have, if it works. Cheers

    Has anyone fitted a HUD?

G'day All, I'm thinking of fitting a Head Up Display, one that plugs into the trucks OBD ll port. There's a million available online. I'm only really after fuel consumption, the rest is a bonus. Has anyone done this?, did it work?, any tips/recommendations? Cheers

    NPS Camper Build

Only one, the small Phoenix inverter that powers the fridge died, kept going straight to overload, was only weeks from end of 5yr warranty, was replaced no problem, they even upgraded to V.E direct model at no cost, great service. On reflection I may have caused the failure as the DC positive...

    Isuzu nps switch

Hi Trakka, No aftermarket switches fit, the Isuzu part number for blank ones is #1884345750, were $24 each or $42 with a wiring harness (back in 2016). I used Narva labels, clear with white writing. Cheers

    NPS Camper Build

Hey shan, thanks for the update and glad your still living the dream, we start fulltiming at the end of this year. Heading to WA for family duties but plenty to see there until covid is over. We have been rationing the use of our microwave/breadmaker knowing they are no longer made but your...

    Older FGs and rubber components...

That piece of dumb engineering is called a harmonic balancer, it's performs an important function and all engines have them, some last for many years, some, like the $700 one in my wife's car, about 3years max. There really isn't much warning of impending failure. A mate was stuck on the side...
