1998 Mitsubishi Montero winter package (PNW)

Just decided with my wife this morning that we're putting the Montero up for sale. The car runs and drives well, has no leaks, and would happily make it across the country and back. 1998 Montero (G2.5), winter package (rear locker), 237k miles - $6000 - Locker, seat heaters, cruise, A/C...

Second Gen Montero Sway bar quick disconnects

Yes, a smaller bar could help split the difference. But I doubt the bar changed more than 1mm between years/trim levels, if at all. So it would probably be fruitless. In other vehicles, the range between OE base model bars and aftermarket "sport" bars can be +/- 40% diameter.

1998 Gen 2.5 Montero w/Winter Package - Preparing for Adventure

Man, it's nice to see people are still selling old used cars at fair prices. I overpaid dearly for my '98 ($5k with 228k miles!!!!!!!). One suggestion might be to take it to a shop you trust, and get a "pre purchase" type of inspection. They'll check all the basic systems and let you know what...

    Gen 2.5 3.8 Swap

Nice to see this thread is still alive. I do wish, however, that more people would explore the supercharger route. M90's are still cheap (under 250 bucks) and plentiful. And at low boost, neither fueling nor intercooling would be an issue (there are several ways to piggyback extra fueling...

CAUTION/AVOID Adventure Driven Designs in AZ

...this. To be so verbose and make claims suggesting what an experienced man about town he is (...I currently have items in transit moving between every continent on the planet Earth...) - but simultaneously be so naïve as to not understand he's ordering from a guy working out of his garage and...

Air Lockers - OEM vs ARB?

There IS a low-cost Chinese option that has really good reviews with Toyota and Nissan guys. Look up TRE lockers. It's what I plan to use when I lock the front axle. Some guys report using them for years on trail rigs with no issues.

Montero Sport - junkyard leaf spring options?

Blocks wouldn't increase the load capacity at all...I was hoping to find something sprung a little heavier. But, the OME leaf pack is pretty cheap, so I think I'll just recommend he go that route. I have the OME HD setup on mine, and it's perfectly level when fully loaded with gear/fluids/etc...

Montero Sport - junkyard leaf spring options?

Hey all! One of my best friends just joined the Montero (Sport) fold, and we're looking to do a few basic things on as much of a budget as possible. It's a '98, so the rear is leaf sprung. I'm wondering...does anyone know of a junkyard solution that would provide approximately a 2-inch lift...

Se7en62's '97 Cherokee XJ "GROOT" Overland Build

Here's what i thought was strange - I ordered some RC XJ Swaybar disconnects yesterday off Amazon. Check out the picture...they're listed for an XJ, but both ends of the link are horizontal...but then I think I figured it out. There's an extra bracket that serves as a horizonal receiver, that I...

    Nui 'Ula - our '95 Ex-J!

The axle dilemma... Boy, this ended up being a good time. LOL! So, we bought the XJ with what was said to be a broken rear axle shaft, but as it was a non C clip D35, I was able to drive it home. I knew at the onset that I'd be replacing the rear axle. What I *didn't* know until the next day...

    Nui 'Ula - our '95 Ex-J!

Hey everyone! We just picked up an XJ for what I feel was a pretty good price, to replace the last ExPo vehicle we sold a couple years ago ('95 Montero SR, "Monty"). This will be the update thread for the new-to-us Ex-J! Our new XJ: '95 4.0L, 5 spd, 220k...starts, runs, drives great...evidence...
