I have a jump starter- should I still carry jumper cables?

I didn't realize that they wouldn't work if the dead car is like, dead dead. Glad I asked!

I have a jump starter- should I still carry jumper cables?

I purchased one of those self-contained jump starters (non-affiliate link), and I've had good success with it. It only uses about 7% per jump. I imagine that's a logarithmic curve, but I easily have a few jumps per charge. I also religiously recharge anything I use, and I check everything in the...

GMRS antennae needed - MXT115 Midland Micromobile

I ran a Nagoya UT-72 when I had an MXT115. I had no means of accurately testing performance, but I assumed it would be better because it was longer. You won't need any special adapter, but you will need to run the cable again, since the cable is permanently attached to the base of the Nagoya...

    Waterproof Upland Hunting Pants

I can't imagine hunting in a fully waterproof pant, but I definitely understand the challenge of finding a tough, water resistant, synthetic pant for upland bird hunting. Up here in the northwest, cotton pants like the Carhartts (which are awesome) aren't really functional. I had the LL Bean...

FS/FT- 4th gen 4Runner Front Receiver Hitch by CBI (Seattle)

I have a CBI front receiver hitch for a 4th gen Toyota 4runner for sale. This provides a rock solid recovery point on the front of your 4th gen 4runner with only minimal cosmetic changes. Here’s the CBI listing...

Electrical connector for aftermarket fog lights? (4th gen 4runner)

Thanks, Dave. Exactly the kind of thing I was looking at, so nice to get some confirmation. I've disposed of the old bumper and fog light assembly, so I wasn't really sure what I was looking for. What did you use to connect your new pigtail to your new fog lights? Just a classic lineman's...

Electrical connector for aftermarket fog lights? (4th gen 4runner)

What's best practice for connecting aftermarket fog lights to a factory wiring harness? I have a factory switch and wiring harness installed from the old fog lights, I just need some help connecting my new lights that fit my new bumper into the old wiring harness. On the light side, I have bare...

Go Pro mounts for GPS and iPad

Thanks for the report! You have more miles than I do, but I can confirm that my similar setup is working well and is quite stable.

    99 4Runner iPad mount

Full size iPad or mini? I run an 8" windows tablet on a rig connected to a GoPro sticky mount next t my stereo. Runs great, but probably not robust enough for a full sized iPad. Can provide more details if you're interested.

    Windows Navigation

It's not the most accurate receiver, but it does alright. Are you sure that you're getting a GPS signal? Turn off the WiFi (but don't go into airplane mode) and check the offline settings to make sure you have a GPS signal.

    Windows Navigation

+1 for MapsPro. I use it on my little ASUS 8" tablet with a built in GPS receiver (no WiFi/cell). I haven't used it on a trail yet, but it seems to work well on the bus. It also imports and exports .GPX and other formats so you can share routes with others.

Go Pro mounts for GPS and iPad

Love this idea, and I have a shoe box of assorted mounts. Talk to me about the goose neck- what is it holding, and is it stable on the trails?

    tablet and gps questions

I downloaded the latest version and it's much more intuitive to download maps and use offline. It's super slow on my little 8" ASUS, but probably totally workable for the function. I don't have any trips ocming up, but I'm looking forward to downloading/saving GPX tracks.

    tablet and gps questions

I haven't had a lot of luck with Maps Pro. Would you be willing to put together a little tutorial on using a Windows device for real time, offline navigation?
