I have had 3 sets of KO2 tires all load range E. They wear well. One set had 50k miles and more than 50% tread left. They are fairly quiet and smooth if rotated properly. Never mudded them but good on ice and snow. Good luck on the purchase.
Nice drawing. Just went through this drill with my son. He was looking at the cargo trailer conversion also. He is very capable as well. The interior is dark and it get's super hot in there. Low head clearance. It takes a lot of work to get one right. Eventually he chose a small travel...
I like the 8' cabover camper idea too. Good used deals out there. The 16' trailer idea is nice. You can't beat the mobility once the trailer is unhooked.
The 5.4 is a strong engine. I have an 05 F150 4x4 with the 5.4 triton with 150K. It is a capable tow engine. There are some flaws. The spark plug issues are well documented. Yours should have been changed to newer plugs by now that don't break in half and fall into the head while changing...
Sorry my computer has been down. The C30 is a tough truck. I had a 75 K20 with a 350 that I worked pretty hard for many years. It's hard to beat a 350 for reliability.
Happy hunting. Had a 5.7 for 6 years but it was a low mileage truck. If you are going to pull heavy farm trailers like I did It's not ideal. Ok for occasional short hauls. If you can find a older GM truck with 6.0 it's a better engine, regularly reaching 300K miles.
Hope the truck search is going well. Did the the 3/4 ton truck shopping tour recently. Waiting for a Ram 2500 Diesel the we ordered. For our uses the cummins torque and the length of the truck with the 6'4" box and crew cab fit the bill among other things. The six speed transmission is dated...
Yes a truck camper vs a travel trailer. If I was hauling a lightweight truck Camper the tundra, if I was pulling a big travel trailer I'd buy the ram diesel. It's great that there is time before the camper arrives. Have fun shopping.
For a lightweight camper you have a lot of choices. I have seen that new Tundra TRD hybrid pulling some heavy loads. It would be my choice for your application. I just ordered a Ram 2500 Diesel since I'm pulling a big travel trailer. I seriously considered the tundra though. As you know...
