The 8spd trans should be a major improvement in fuel economy and overall drivability in the new powerwagon. I vote new Power Wagon. It’s just hard to beat that truck when you come down to it.
Power wagon with the 8spd should be the best heavy duty truck out there for overlanding at this point. The half ton 8spd is pretty dang good so the 6.4 with an 8spd should be pretty impressive.
The 8spd is an excellent transmission. It’s one of the best in the industry at the moment. Look at a few Ram forums and look at peoples opinions about the 8sp. I have one behind the 5.7 and love to drive it. Always in the right gear and they can get better than 20hwy with the 5.7. The...
I work for a DOD fire department and like you mentioned with the government stuff we have all Ford f550 fire trucks. We can’t keep enough running to man stations the majority of the time. We have 12 and older trucks and have replaced multiple 6.7 and 6.4 engines in these trucks. I wouldn’t...
I’d suggest going ahead and attempting to have the plugs changed in the 5.4. Just based on personal experience with that horribly designed engine. Idk, if the later 5.4 engines where different from my 05 but 5 out of the 8 plugs where basically welded to the block and it wasn’t but cheap to...
The KL cherokee has low range and a locker in the trailhawk version. They are very capable vehicles. My wife had one and it was dead reliable, got pretty decent mpg, and was fun to drive. I actually really miss that vehicle.
I’ve got a 14 6.4 Ram and love it. Great motor. Very peppy engine. Like someone else said towing under 12000 pounds the gas 3/4 tons are good options. 6.4 is a rev happy motor. Just let it scream and it will tow whatever you put behind it.
My wife has had a 15 trailhawk for about 2 years. It has been dead reliable and is very comfortable to drive. I put a small 1.5" supsension lift on it and went up a size from the factory tires and it has gone anywhere we have ever needed to go while getting a consistent 21-22 mpg. I would...
I've got a 2010. Payed 1000 for it in almost new condition. I pull it with a Ram 2500. I think it would be a pretty good load for a jk to haul. Especially if it is a 3.8 jk.
I've got a 14 Ram 2500 with the 6.4 V8. Mine has 3.73 gears and 35" bfg ko2 tires. I regularly tow 8000 pounds with it and it tows great but I keep it locked out of 6th gear when towing. I think if it had 4.10 gears it would be about perfect. I'd go wth the lowest gears you can get factory...
I've got a 2014 2500 with 6.4, 3.73 gears and 35's. I average around 13-14 but like you mine is capable of getting 18 on a long trip if I keep my foot out of it. The 6.4 really is a great motor and fairly economical for a big block v8.
