Early (1997-1998) UN93 Ford Expedition's have 2WD selectable via the main switch. It's a software function and can be more or less retrofit to the the later UN93 trucks (1999-2002) via the brown wire mod.
As far as whether it is a differential or not - it differentiates the input/output shafts...
The Expedition has a multi-plate centre differential:

The jerkiness you sensed may be the energizing from 2WD to AWD mode with a worn centre diff (speculation). Once in...
Do you remember if the Border Patrol was using same body style F150s at that time? If so, same body cracking?
Just curious if there is a difference between the firewall/floor stampings between the two platforms or if there is a longitudinal beaming issue for the UN93 trucks specifically.
Can...
Yeah, transmissions can be an issue in these. Thankfully, any local shop can work on it.
A couple of guys have done manual transmission swaps. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with mine when the time comes. I like an automatic in a truck but enjoy shifting also.
Lack of Play store support may be an intended feature? Given the rarified usage profile locking it down so it doesn't get polluted with crapware from the Play store may be a good thing. Guaranteed success for navigation, support, etc.

Yep, these are great trucks. I cross shopped against the 100 and 200 series myself and ended up with one of these. Who needs ~$20+k sitting around in a third-fourth vehicle that is purpose driven only? Even if I wanted to daily drive it I wouldn't - too far and it'd use the truck up prematurely...
When you drop the nose of the truck into a hole the height is helpful. Suddenly it isn't that high. Plus the height reduces the "stuff" obstructing the outward view.

So are the GMT800 bars compatible with the Ford short/4.6 or long/5.4 bars?
FWIW, IIRC the transmission is what places the transmission x-member / torsion bar mount location and long vs short bars.
You need to find out what is available for your vintage of ECU. I'm also going to assume your truck is UKDM since you are in Singapore.
Various vehicles have some pretty cool stuff available for the older ECUs - real time, while running, tuning and gauge display for example.
I don't know what...
The light duty F250 torsion bars are the same length as the bars in a 5.4 equipped Expedition. The 4.6 Expedition and 4.6 F150 uses shorter t-bars.
At least that is my recollection. IIRC it was discussed in more detail in Mad Texan's Screw thread.
I'm of two minds for the same reason but there are cup holders in the console...
I was thinking more as a custom console for USB jacks, SD slots for the ICE system, etc. Even a fixed RAM mount ball there would probably be more useful than yet more cup holders. But that's just me.
