My New Fuso FGB71 All Terrain Warriors "Universal Warrior" Slide on Mega Camper

What did they come up with for the "special sprung tray?" I'm building a similar concept truck and would like to see their solution to protecting the camper box.

Considering a direction switch from our Mog - which FGs to buy and which to avoid

    I'm planning on a divorced "Doubler". It's a 205 mated with a 203, so you get 1:1,2:1 and 4:1 in 4Hi, 4Lo, 2Hi, and 2Lo, with 3 shift levers.

Considering a direction switch from our Mog - which FGs to buy and which to avoid

You sound like a hands on guy. Your options would increase dramatically if you were willing to buy a 2 wheel drive and convert it to 4x4. I recently purchased an 04 Isuzu FRR; extended cab, inline 6 turbo, 6 spd. auto, cruses comfortably at 75 mph. I will be converting it to 4x4 and building an...

2012+ Fuso FG (US Spec) Expedition Vehicle Platform

For sure it's possible to build a better rig in every aspect, than what is currently offered in a new variety. However, for those without the know how or connections, it would be a daunting undertaking to say the least, to build a rig from the ground up, as well as time consuming. Unfortunately...

2012+ Fuso FG (US Spec) Expedition Vehicle Platform

I have recently purchased a 2004 Isuzu FRR that I will be converting into a 4x4 expedition camper. I have owned a 4 door long bed Duramax since 2004 and had an F-250 before that. Prior to the diesels, I owned a VW Sycro AWD camper. I love my Duramax and drive it to Baja every year. It's like...

Japanese heavy trucks with low miles?

These trucks will easily go 4-500,000 miles, so at 15-16,000 miles per year, they will probably go more years than you will own them. They're not even broke in until 50,000. Find one that's been well maintained with 150-160,000 and I'll bet it would serve you well.

Changing out heavy steel flatbed for aluminum

In general aluminum is 40% lighter than steel for the same load capacity. For a quality 20'x8' aluminum flat bed with headache rack you could expect to pay around $7,000 I think in the end, you will be much happier with the bigger truck. More power, better braking and handling, safer.

    Diesel guys...Isuzu vs Duramax engine?

I haven't had a chance to check mpg. accurately. During the test drive it seemed to get about 12mpg. I bought it I Calif. drove it for a few hours, and had it shipped to Colorado, where I put it in storage until winter gone. There's too much snow to get it up to my house without chains. I bought...

    Diesel guys...Isuzu vs Duramax engine?

I just purchased a 2004 Isuzu FRR, which has the 7.8L 6H-series motor. That motor came in the; Isuzu F-series trucks, GMC WT-series, and a few Chevy Topkicks and 8500-series dump trucks. Interestingly enough it's the same motor from a 5500 thru 7500 series trucks. Most are 200 hp @ 2,200 rpm and...

    chiptune dpf delete problems

Definitely NOT EASY!. I've been researching and building different scenarios on paper for the past 6 months. I'm finally getting really close to knowing what the build will be, who will do what work, what parts will come from where, and what work I will do (which will be a lot). It's been a ton...

    chiptune dpf delete problems

The whole diesel emissions thing has got me planning a complete new drivetrain build, starting out with a salvaged Isuzu NQR as the platform. I can put all new, built components, that will have more HP & TQ, better MPG, way better axles, tranny, and transfer case for close to the same as buying...

Viking Offroad Going Out of Business?

Placed an order for synthetic winch line the other day, but received no order confirmation. Viking Offraod has deleted their phone number from the website, and the email does not work. Found 2 phone numbers for Thor; 1 was full and the other was for his business, Thor Motorsports, which I left a...

Fuso FE180 vs Isuzu NQR 4x4 Coversion

Looking to build my expedtion vehicle. After much research I've come to the same conclusion as RUF Inc. in that the Fuso FG is too small of a platform for a 16' camper body. However, unlike Ruf, I'm thinking 26,000 gvw is bigger than I need and that an 18,000 gvw vehicle would be good. (Not to...
