And I welded on some additional plate steel. I reinforced the weld joints with a "diamond" piece (not shown here). The two holes in the extensions align with the existing recovery points on the bottom of the frame rail. I scavenged a recovery hook from a junk yard, so now I've got "eyes" and...

I propped it up into place. There was enough material for about 1x2 inch "ears" that fit under the frame rails.

I laid out the cut lines and then made sure I still had room for the winch.
