Fords have the most aftermarket support and are relatively easy to convert to a capable 4x4. Fords came with a 7.3l IDI diesel until 1994(ish), when they were replaced by the 7.3l PSD and then the 6.0 PSD in 2004 (mid 2003). Chevy can be had with a Duramax, but more limited aftermarket...

I have an E350 van and can open both rear cargo doors into the annex of my Autana (with a tiny bit of work). It's a pretty big opening.

Was Everyone in Yellowstone? We were also in the Yellowstone area the first couple weeks of August. Mostly camped in Lizard Creek Grand Teton and explored Yellowstone and Grand Teton from there. We also spent a few days up near Livingston MT and kayaked on Jackson Lake. Phenomenally beautiful...
