    Honda/ Subaru/ Toyota

In 2017, I went off the highway and rolled our Forester doing 100km/h (60 mph) and walked away. My skiing buddy would have said it was Forward 1 1/2 with a twist. I walked away with 3 broken ribs and a concussion. The cage I was in held up like a vault, though the rest of the car was totalled -...

We lost a good one in Latvia this week. I hate posts like this.

Deepest sympathies... This is so sad and useless and frustrating. Sounds like he was a great man.

Subaru owners: Let's see your expedition rigs!

We've been using ours on our Tacoma for 2-3 years now, never seen a bug, and it has held up wonderfully in Newfoundland winds and rain (come see for yourself - if you can make it here...) They have elastic around the seal, and straps to tighten. Then again, we like spiders...

I'm looking for information on building a custom super-insulated ICE CHEST please

Use an average plastic cooler, but fill the air space with foam expanding insulation. Drill a hole(s) and spray till all space is filled, and you've got a great cooler for cheap. (not my idea, saw it on the Webs somewhere)

Are those step bits gold-plated? (j/k) I got a set of 3 at Canadian Tire for $20Cdn. Then I did this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uMFrTMT2wA

    Tiny stoves

What about meth/alcohol? Sure, I love my Coleman single burner, and my MSR Whisperlite, and even my Coleman 2 burner propane for car camping. They've all been stellar, lightweight, compact etc. But I got bitten by a radioactive pop can last year, and started on an ocd journey of diy. This site...

    Sandals this Summer

I'd take the Newport... in fact I already have. I also have another model ( can't remember the name, they're brown nubuck/"suede" with removeable straps). The problem with these is the strap pattern - they leave my pinky toe uncovered and is a pain when hiking. Love them otherwise Still prefer...

    Behold, The Ghetto RTT

What he said! I've been contemplating something like this, but thought about attaching hinged plywood sheets to the standard roof rack, and using legs to support the foldout. Love the OP's DIY and great work, may just copy some of this. Ingenious.

    My two favorite Winter Sports-

Do it! XC skiing is spiritual, invigorating, lifesaving even (much like sea-kayaking). Self-propelled - the only way to fly I've been avid for +30years - can run circles around youngsters these days :) This XX Skiing does sound like some HAWT action, though - I'll see if the wife wants to try jk

    Newfoundland 2011: One Big Dog

Hey, I know that place! Wonderful thread, sir! Warms the cockles to know you enjoyed Newfoundland! I was impressed by the thorough and informative treatment you gave my homeland. I was born & bred in Town (St. John's), taught the Vikings at community college in St. Anthony, and now work for the...
