    ExPo: G-Wagen Registry

I’ve recently built up a long range touring vehicle based on the 461 ute that was sold here in Australia for a short time. Having owned a couple of the older SWB 460’s for the last 20 years most of my touring was done in a Mitsubishi Delica. Just completed my first long solo trip of 3 months...

    Delica Pros /Cons

I’ve had a L-400 LWB for the last 13 years, driven it across Russia, Europe and the middle east, as well as over 200,000 km’s across Australia and think they make one of the best touring vehicles available. They are very reliable and easy to repair, their off-road ability of much better than...

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

It would be nice to monitor the Alt temp and get an idea of what’s really going on. I like the option to turn off the alternator feed, if your on a long trip and with solar there is no need to burn diesel.

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

Not sure of what BMS you have but if the batteries are the type that disconnect when over charged that might mean the alternator is running without a battery and could max out. Also as lithium can take a lot of current there is a risk of the alternator over heating. I’m no expert but going...

    solar panel isolator

Put a switch in, if you disconnect the battery you still might get volts from the solar. Yes place the switch between the panels and the regulator as some regulators are 12/24v and need to see the battery to determine what the output is.

    Trip of a Lifetime

Have reached the Anatonia region in eastern Turkey, It's certainly an area that few go to. We meet a few of the locals and their simple way of life. This episode is what expedition travel is all about, IMO. https://youtu.be/-O6gNt4gHKw

    Trip of a Lifetime

Well with the lockdown I've finally edited our biggest trip. We shipped our 4wd's from Melbourne to Vladivostok and spent 2 years driving across to Scotland.

EarthCruiser - flat bed - pass through option

Definitely option 2, having a removable means a lot more weight as you need a tray, which means smaller range and less payload. To build an expeditiion vehical on a pick up is very compromising to stay under weight. I think with your experience you would be able to build a really light body...
