    Spare tire carrier ideas....

I like what earth roamer did with their huge tires. They used an atv winch to raise and lower the spare. It would add weight to your swing out assembly so maybe just put 15’ of synthetic rope on it and mount the winch on top of your camper box to lift the tire up to your swing arm?

Talk Me Out of an OBS as a budget overlanding rig!

So I own an 89 F250 with a 5.8, a 99 F250 Sd with 6.8, and used to own a 2010 F250 with the 6.4 turd diesel so I thought I’d share my thoughts too. The 2010 had the best performance across the board but there was a huge downside to me...when I popped the hood I needed an engineering degree, a...

2000 Extended Cab Tacoma, mild, long-term overland build

Awesome thread and glad to see you're sticking with it. With regards to the cv boot... most of the time you're better off just replacing the entire shaft for the cost and headache of dealing with putting on the boot. Plus you won't have to worry that dirt and grit got into the joints. Replacing...

285/75R18 AT tires: A good choice for expedition-travel, domestic full-size trucks?

I ran 315/75r16 BFG A/T KO's (not the new KO2) on my 99 Super Duty for years. Liked the first set so much that when it came time to replace, I got one of the few last sets of KO's. I ran them on the factory 16”x8” wheels with no issues and got about 70,000 miles out of them with...

1st thought wheel bearing, then tie rod, now wheel bearing?

Jack it up so the wheel spins freely and with the wheel still on, spin the wheel and put your free hand on the spring. If it is the wheel bearings or any other part of the rotating assembly then the spring will amplify the vibrations and you'll be able to feel it pretty clearly. Try this in 2...

    Tire Pressure Monitor System (TPMS)

Well, I've been searching for any kits with the band sensors but looks like they're long gone now. I like the ARB stem cap kit better than aluminum stems but it looks like it might be a pita to air up (the locknut looks like it sits too far up the threads to get an air chuck on it easily). I...

    Tire Pressure Monitor System (TPMS)

Hi G_Fresh, I realize the thread is from April but if you haven't decided on a Tpms system yet I would strongly recommend the band style sensors. I've been in the Tire business for years and and have not seen any difference between signal strength between different styles, only different...
