So you want to put King shocks on a Third Gen Montero...

Looks great! I'd be interested in the cheaper option. Do the arms help correct the camber from lifting the front?

3rd Gen rear diff carrier shims

Thanks I'll look into that. Have you used the site before? I can't remeber but I thought I tried a similar site when I first installed the locker and it initially said it was available but after I placed the order it said it was also unavailable. I'll give it a try again though. Well ARB is...

3rd Gen rear diff carrier shims

The part number is MR508116. Its the thick shims for the carrier bearings. It is no longer made and there are no dealers anywhere in the US that have it (thats what I was told by a dealer anyway). I know someone had a shop install lockers and they said toyoya shims were used but I dont...

3rd Gen rear diff carrier shims

Hey guys. Well I'm installing the 3rd (maybe 4th can't even remeber) bonded seal for my rear Arb. I hoping they will just give me a refund for the POS so I can get an elocker but I'm not holding my breath. I'd like to have some diff carrier shims regardless if I go with a harrop or reinstall...

Gen 3... 265 vs 285. Help me decide

I don't know, if you can afford to regear, I really like 255s on my Gen 3 with 4.9 gears. I had 31.5 tires before and the added height really helps wheeling, at least for what I've been doing with mine. The departure angle and break over angle increases are very noticeable. It also looks...

Hang in there, I'd hate to see you sell it. I want to see the finished product.

A few thoughts that seem most likely to me if the issue was not present before the build.... 1-The rings are the issue. You are adding a variable that cannot be accounted for and it would be easy for a small discrepancy to be present (ie they are not square/round). 2-you have a dragging...

3rd Gen 4.9 Gear Part Num?

Search the part numbers for 01 and 02 xls models. They all had 4.9s. Any other Monteros, including the 01 and 02 limiteds, all had 4.30s. Look on eBay. I found mine within a few weeks of looking.

Looks really good!!! Seems about par for the course at most repair places. I’ve resolved myself I will always need to fix something anytime i take a vehicle in. It’s a nice surprise when you don’t, ha.

    Any gen 3 aftermarket shifters?

Try eBay or carpart. I’ve had lots of success with eBay for used parts.

    Old Junk vs. New Junk?

So your choices are spend a 1000 bucks and a weekend fixing your current ride, or spend 40k on a new truck? Unless you have 40k burning a hole in your pocket that you have no other use for it, it would seem like a simple choice.
