    LeTourneau's TC-497, the big one

Thanks for sharing! I love the innovation and outside of the box thinking back then, those guys didn't over-analyze things on paper, they got after it and tried it.

I was surprised when I found out how valuable those were a few years back. I always kind of thought they were a bit silly, particularly so as I was growing up because it was all about the 911's, so context matters. Were they desirable back in the day also or is that a relatively current thing?

    Dangerous Situations

Amen - it's getting pretty bad. Any green space in/around the city is littered with camps or remnants of. There used to be a cool little piece of single track I used to ride my bike on, maybe 100' yards worth, near Goose Hollow / Hwy 26, I used to hit it 10 years ago....tried to hit it a...

Wow. Speaking of max train, this was big news 3 years ago: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017_Portland_train_attack I rode it multiple times a week from 2006 - 2010, got progressively worse....it's even worse now, but with that said, I've never had any issues beyond annoyances and wouldn't...

    Dangerous Situations

I don't have much to add except another perspective, I've traveled quite a bit but never to any place that would be considered super sketchy...but I had a great encounter with a colleague who has though. The firm I worked for had an office in the UK and this fella was transferred from London to...

I don't disagree, common vehicle is good, PITA factor is bad....without question, but that would be the same problem even if they kept the 'old' Defender with minor updates....it would still have reasonably complicated systems as vehicles are required to meet emissions, safety and get good fuel...

It's relative to ones income level and isn't an argument for why the LR is inferior as some are making it out to be. 100% agree though, less $ on trucks = more $ on fun....

But realize one mans $70k Jeep is easily anothers $15k Toyota with a $55k trip to Argentina and back...just as one mans fully decked out Earthcruiser can easily be a very small % of his disposable income.....it's relative to ones financial situation.

We have a LR dealer here in Portland, just for reference.....and several indy shops that specialize in Rovers, even the newer ones. I believe they have all the diag tools, but Portland does have a strong Rover community....Cruiser community too

First off, what in the &*#(# is a foam tire cushion!? Secondly, totally agree with driving...there was a great episode of Lenos Garage talking about his Lambo Countach with like 80k+ miles that he drove daily, still running well, without a ton of problems...

So your saying the LC Wagons should have been renamed something besides "Landcruiser", just like LR branched off with the Discovery line, Toyota should have done the same with their wagon line? You'll have to accept my logic and I'll agree with yours... We see today that the 200 is very...
