    Why buy a land cruiser?

Just driving it around on the street as a daily - probably......but are you talking Expedition use with a 2000 lb pop camper + ancillaries? Towing a 7000 lb commercial utility trailer? The need for 2 or 3 LC70 utes vs a single full size pickup? Functionally I don't see how it would work in...

    Why buy a land cruiser?

Then if you go read the forums (with it's own set of biases) - many many issues with the CTD's from longtime owners, many are going back to gas rigs.....not to mention that large decrease in payload capacity, which is typically more of an issue with the 3/4t rigs.... I'm not trying to turn this...

    Why buy a land cruiser?

I chatted to a couple guys in Melbourne when I was there in 2019 who had full size trucks, I was surprised to see them, one was a Raptor and the other was a Ram. They said they were like $140k. You guys also have very strict limitations with tire size and lift correct? I know I've seen some...

    Why buy a land cruiser?

Sorry if it came across that way - I'm just stating some observations I believe to be correct from a utility perspective. I think if Aus had access to our full size trucks at the same price and had an infrastructure to support it (cheap fuel, large parking spots, no additional taxation) the...

    Why buy a land cruiser?

LOL - gotta love people putting mileage "limits" on rigs, while a Toyota is "Just getting broken in" Rams are "junk"....it's ridiculous.

    Why buy a land cruiser?

Partially because they don't have full size 3/4 - 1 ton trucks in their market. In a market with full size pickups it's a tough sell for a utilitarian rig like a LC that gets sim MPG, while the domestic rigs have a stronger drivetrain, more power, more room, more payload and more towing...

Is the FZJ80 worth it in today’s market?

I don't know why the manuf allow dealers to add ADM to rigs....total BS price fixing, my opinion only, but I think they should get the franchise shutdown for doing that, they make good money as is.....if a rig has a big secondary market, lets the consumers buy them and take advantage of it, I've...

Perfect off-highway tire = LTX? What?

Agreed, generally speaking, a tire that is good in the mud is not good on sand....I'd think this LTX (like many tires with sim pattern) would be excellent on sand.

Is the FZJ80 worth it in today’s market?

Assuming this is aimed at me? For the FJ40 pretty much all major components were NLA, stupid stuff like the parking brake drums on the output shaft of the t-case....there were aftermarket kits but I was not impressed with the quality. I had a sim problem with my 1996 F150, wiper solenoid went...

2004 Tacoma vs. 1997 Land Cruiser: Long Term Ownership

There is a happy medium in there....a daily that you can easily do some expo work with, not everybody needs a HD expo rig. Running at payload in any rig offroad is going to compromise it...LC included. A LC could probably do it longer than most.....but if expo means light camping, MTB's, no...

2004 Tacoma vs. 1997 Land Cruiser: Long Term Ownership

+1....as cool as the rigs are, I think parts availability is going to be MUCH better with the Tacoma's along with less expensive repairs for what is functionally a sim rig....moving forward that means less headaches.

Is the FZJ80 worth it in today’s market?

Now you have a $40-50k rig with 250k miles vs a brand new vehicle.....per the original OP, is that worth it? Hard to imagine for most. One could also argue that since you are going to be using non-OEM or rebuilt parts to do any major work (depending on what needs done), reliability moving...

    INEOS Grenadier

Interesting....JLR sent Ineos a letter prior to it even being designed saying they have trademark and copyright protection on the Defender design and would defend it. Here is the Trademark for the 2-door...
