    1991 Isuzu Trooper Overlanding Build

If yours is a V6, there are a lot of things you can do to put more ponies under the hood. The best is a 3.4 swap. Go to PlanetIsuzoo.com and there are loads of threads on the subject. Bart

The dieimma of purchasing a new Toyota

If it makes you feel any better, I had my 2016 Trail Premium 4Runner for less than 10 days and someone swiped the back corner and tool some paint off, and I got a nice rock chip in the windshield, all within the first 2 weeks of owning the first brand new car I've owned in a long, long time.

The dieimma of purchasing a new Toyota

I'm in the same boat. Just read this whole thread. I am thinking of getting out of the Isuzu game and just getting a 4runner. I am tired of laying on my back in the garage on weekends instead of camping and exploring. I've been a die-hard Trooper guy for many years, and if I could buy a 2016...

It could be, but I am hoping it is something simple like a busted u joint. I have not had time to get under there and check yet. Bart

    1991 Isuzu Trooper Overlanding Build

Thanks. At this very moment, I need this words more than ever. I think the clutch T.O. bearing blew this morning. As I drove to work, I noticed a rattling sound loud enough to hear over my music. Turned off the tunes and I could really hear it. I think a bearing gave up the ghost...not 100%...

Rolled-on Rustoleum flat black paint job on '94 Trooper... Opinions, please!

Yeah, that's the thing. If you just have a trail banger than you don't really care about, they why not? I personally like my vehicles to both look good and perform well. A complete package. Bart

Rolled-on Rustoleum flat black paint job on '94 Trooper... Opinions, please!

The thing is, what looks good is subjective and will very person to person. I actually like the "flat" look on the right vehicle when done well. It has a very military-ish look and that can be cool. But there is fine line between it looking like crap and it looking good. And from my personal...

    1991 Isuzu Trooper Overlanding Build

Thanks, guys. And yeah, these old trucks are getting harder and harder to keep on the road. But I suppose that is part of the joy. Anyone can have a built up 2015 4Runner (and trust me, I have thought about it), but very few can enjoy a vintage 4x4 that still looks and performs great without...

Rolled-on Rustoleum flat black paint job on '94 Trooper... Opinions, please!

To be honest, unless it is a throwaway vehicle, I would never, ever paint it flat. True flat will look like crap very quickly. It will fade, get chalky, stain and generally look just as bad as your Trooper does now. How do I know this? Because been there done that. You would be much, much...

Thanks! Yeah, its hard to get a speeding ticket behind the wheel of a Trooper! ;) Bart

    1991 Isuzu Trooper Overlanding Build

I suppose the fuel economy decrease really isn't all that bad. Maybe I went from getting like 350 miles per tank on a good day to about 320...something like that. It's hard to judge since I really started modding away as soon as I bought the vehicle, so I don't have the best baseline...

    1991 Isuzu Trooper Overlanding Build

Thanks. The main problem with Gen1 Troopers is finding a decent one. And then you have the choice of the GM V6 or the 2.6 Isuzu motor. And then of course you have to be ready to deal with the underpowered motor and lack of a huge aftermarket. If you can get past those issues, then you will be...
