Prepping a defender 130 for around the world..

Not to bad, will be a little over GVM but not as bad as the 11000lb Land Cruiser 75 series I found on Big Red with a GVM of 6690lb Nothing like a train wreck waiting to happen. Did you happen to get a front axel and rear axel break down? Good thing about a 130, they are a pretty well...

    2019 Defender

Not having to fix it 3 times every time you have to do something would also be nice.

    2019 Defender

I think the safety hacks have put all that practical stuff to bed.

    2019 Defender

Electronics would be my guess. All their other models are full of the stuff. Yes they are more capable, but YES a lot more complex and costly to fix. Reliable yes and no, and a lot harder for a home mechanic to accommodate. Possibly means taking it back to HQ for correction. So has it's...

Give me your best 3 hikes...please

Found this in a blog here http://marc.merlins.org/perso/hiking/post_2007-08-18_2007-08-10-17_-John-Muir-Trail-from-Bishop-Pass-to-Mt-Whitney.html. Its a little old but surely it's not this hard if so popular. I have bought a bicycle from a junk shop in the past and ridden it back 10km to the...

    Love from Land Rover

Nice, beautifully done and how lucky are those boys. As for the US landy thing, you'd think they were high end sports cars worth hundreds of thousands for all the carry on. Instead its 34 defenders probably lucky to be worth one sports car all up. I hope the badie is dealt with, and all the...

Is the electric bit to put them up, cause I thought all Defender rear windows were self lowering.

    Gov Siezing Old Trucks

I see in the OP's link to the article there is another link to that ill faited defender being cruched by authorities. An officier points out that the door hinges are replaced. Do they expect a car 25+ years old to be totally original. Its weird all right. Oh no, I have no idea where the...

    Gov Siezing Old Trucks

Thats interesting OH&D, I was contenplating galvanising the chassis of a truck I hope to bring to the US, mostly for sale purposes, and it always quite dezirable. Down here Defender chasis dont rust like in the UK, as there is no salting of roads. But sounds as if gslvanising could work against...

    Road & Track - Defender

yeh I don't know, you guys are the rock crawling capital of the world so a portal option may have merit, small as it may be, but these end of an era Defender aren't in big numbers but their price is. No doubt manufacturers work with whats easiest and cheapest to put to the market. But they...

    Road & Track - Defender

They all look nice, but a bit piss pore for a swan song imo. No winches, lockers, soft top, wheels on bonnets, bigger fuel tank or so on. Just paint colours, stickers, badges, wheels, and city slicker trim on the autocon. Crikey even choosing G4 somewhat limited fame over Camel's for a colour...

Build Thread: The Ultimate Overland Land Rover Defender

You will love that diesel hot water, mate has one in a camper trailer so we all line up for a shower in winter. They are the way to go for longevity, just dam expansive. Hey what's that radiator in front of the standard radiator for?
